Nexus Kid

Lurker
I was trying to upgrade my new Nexus to Jelly Bean 4.1 and messed up on the way. I didn't try putting anything on my phone yet but it seems like i messed it up some how. Either my phone or my computer, i'm not sure. My phones build is IMM76Q, maybe that's why. I restored my computer to a few days ago because every time i tried to download drivers it would say it couldn't find any for android 1.0 which makes absolutely no sense. I think i'm gonna just wait for the official update to be released by Verizon. I want to re-lock my phone too and i tried doing so using Nexus ToolKit V7.8.0 but when i try it says "waiting for device." This whole thing is just a mess right now. Can anyone shed some light on these problems? Thanks.

Thanks a lot for that link. That was the easiest thing i've ever done lol. Now that my phone is rooted, would you be able to provide another (easy) link that will instruct me how to get Jelly Bean 4.1? Thanks again!

Everyone here hesitates to answer that last question. The problem is that the question itself makes it obvious that you may not know what you are in for. You need to research the rom threads here (and elsewhere) and make that determination as an educated decision. Different roms mostly with different reason to use. For anyone else here to steer you towards one room or the other invokes a certain responsibility for your satisfaction. That is more than you should ask as no one here knows your technical ability. Find something you like and are comfortable with and have fun, but the responsibility for the decision is all yours.

What is the easiest way to back up the phone before unlocking? I understand that the unlocking process wipes all data. I used to use titanium backup on my rooted Eris, but since my Nexus is not yet rooted, I can't install it.

This tool has a backup option. Read and make sure you understand what it does. I used the tool to unlock and root, but my phone was new to me, so I did not need to back anything up.

There are also other apps in the Play store that will back up your apps, sms, and mms without requiring root. Do a search and you'll find them. Good luck!
