How can i use my hauwei ascends internet on my laptop? Please give me step by step instructions.
This is my 1st smart phone and i love it so far on on metro pcs im still learning hpw to use this phone wbat really sucks is this phone came with no instructions!!!
The book it did come with is of absolutly no help lol!
Plz help i would like to hook my cells internet up to my laptop so i can use my laptop for easier manuvering and visual limitations thank you.
 
Download an app called PDAnet or easytether. When you have downloaded one of these, connect your ascend to the computer and launch whichever one you downloaded. You will have to download the program (either pdanet or easytether) for your computer from the website, but when you download the app there are instructions for doing this.
 
Fair warning: If you're on MetroPCS, tethering for internet access is probably going to be about as fast as dial-up internet unless you have a strong signal. If you're with Cricket, you might have better speeds.
 
I don't know about tethering this phone because I ain't ever done it (don't need to) but I did wanna chime in and say that your phone DOES have a manual. It's on the phone, you just have to browse around and find it. Connect your USB cable to your computer, and then without doing anything else (don't mount the phone as a drive, just plug it in and leave it be) go into your computer and find the phone. It'll show up as Huawei Ascend M860. Click on that and open it up, then open the directory (folder) called document. The manual's in there, you'll want the English one which is user guide_en.pdf. Double click to open it, and read to your hearts content.

The easiest teather i have found is barnacle. Wifi teather though, but super self explanatory. Get the donate version after totaled sure the free some works well as the free wont let you onto secure sites like AOL or Facebook.

I'm curious, is barnacle like a wifi hotspot, or is it just tethering via usb cord?
 
Can you please help me to be able to set all this up so that i can get internet on my laptop through my huawei m860. I am really all confused. I can do if i am told step by step and my phone is not rooted.

Um...

Go to market and download "easy tether"

Follow the directions the app gives you.

If its a newer laptop then get the 64 bit files. You'll know what i mean when the time comes.

Alternatively you can root using z4 from my ascend ultimate customization guide and use either barnacle or "wifi tether for root users" both work well but may disable your ability to pickup wifi on stock 2.1 or Icarus1.1. The issue is not present for cm6 or 7 users.

How to flash cm 6 or 7 is covered step by step in my guide, just use the search bar up top a d search " ascend ultimate"

Have fun with your new mobile internet.



As a side note... if you are on metro don't expect to use YouTube or game sites. Cricket has 3g but we don't.
