Root Need launcher.apk from Optimus M

lexbot

Newbie
I am trying to unbrick my Optimus M and I would really appreciate it if someone could post their "launcher.apk"

The factory reset on this device fails and the phone reboots and complains about this app.

I am hoping if I replace it I can get the phone to perform a proper reset.

Thanks!!

Are you people dumb as dirt?? When in doubt don't delete it, if you don't know what it does.

As far as I know there is no "recovery" ROM to "reflash" the device. Unless you can get your phone into a recovery mode...my ounly thought would be to boot the phone attached it to your PC.

download the Android SDK and push the launcher.apk to the phone, thats if the phone boots enough install/push the apk to it.

I looked at my phone and I do not find launcher.apk, what was the file you actually deleted?

Dumb as dirt? Dumb as a rock maybe =)

I am able to connect to the phone and push a file via ADB. I even had my friend write a custom app for me which launched the settings screen so that I could trigger the factory reset, but it still fails.

Perhaps that wasn't the file I deleted, I just found that this file existed for other optimus phones which had the same look to their UI. Everything I deleted was in the system apps folder. I am guessing it had the name "LG" in it somewhere since everything I deleted was labeled with either MetroPCS or LG somewhere in the file name.

So if you see a file *launcher*.apk in there, I would like to give it a shot. Thanks very much for your efforts!

Ok just found another LGHome.apk and that got me my home screen back. Whoopee! Still not sure I am totally out of the woods but the phone seems to be back.

so it was LGHome.apk not launcher. Yea.. I suggest you install Android Mate, when you launch it, you can Hold-Click and see the actual name of the app.

Furthermore I suggest you don't delete anything that you are not certain about, hopefully someone will make recovery rom soon

You are absolutely correct lol.

On a sidenote, angry birds is a pretty good performance test for this phone.

With all the Metro ware on it, I got a horrible frame rate with this game.

It plays amazingly now!

The launcher I am using from Optimus S does seem to be a little different. I downloaded 2 games and they don't show up in the downloaded section, though I can launch the apps fine from the Android Task Manager app.
