Need program to edit contacts on PC

HTC Sync doesnt do anything but backup.. kind of ******ed and useless

i remember in my lg vx6000 and up days i had a program called bitpim that was fantastic. i plugged in my phone and all my contacts and calender stuff was displayed and i could modify 100% of it.

i want something like that for my desire.

ive had a desire since last december. love the phone.. never rooted

recently i had to send my phone back cuz of a recall.

So heres whats up

i HATE sync. i HATE that my contacts from gmail and facebook and all that shit end up in my "people" app
I know that i only "see" my phone contacts when it is set that way but still.. i hate it..

anyways, i get my recall phone connected and use mycontactsbackup app and it backs up my 0 contacts instead of restoring my phone contacts.
i went back into US Cellular got them to "move" my contacts. i end up with ALL the trash contacts from my email account and everything else labeled as "phone" so no hiding them.

If anything exists id appreciate a link..

thanks

I just use Gmail contacts. All my contacts are on Google. This ensures that I'm always backup. To help make sense of them all, I use the Groups function. So I have the following Groups: Church, Work, Personal, Services, Travel, Family etc. A contact can be part of just one group or multiple groups. This is very useful when I want to send mass email or SMSs. I just need to type Church under Send to and all contacts in that category are selected. There are many other fields you can add under contacts e.g. relationship, date of birth. You can even create your own custom fields. Best part about Gmail contacts is that it can search all the fields. Recently I added a contact who is a make-up artist. However for the life of me I could not remember the name. So I just did a search for make and up it came. As I get older my contacts grow and for some, I really don't know where I met them. So it is helpful to have a short note of where I met and other info.

Try it. I'm sure you'll wish you did this earlier. Best part is that it autosynchs with if you ever change or lose your phone, just synch and you are good to go.
