Root Need Rooting advice for my Bionic

Just downloaded the latest ICS upgrade and I really like the UI, but this upgrade seems a tad slower than the previous ICS. And after having my bionic for over a year now I have decided that I want to give rooting a go in order to improve the performance of my device. I am very new to this so I was hoping for some advice from some of you experienced rooters on what to do exactly, especially since the latest upgrade and what apps to use that will greatly enhance my phone's battery life and make the software run smoother.

So links, suggestions, and advice are all appreciated. TIA

ive been rooted forever:rolleyes:. i have never overclocked/undervolt my bionic but both did help battery life on my X.
my best advice for battery life is to install Titanium backup pro version and freeze the bloatware and other stuff you dont use. Dont delete just freeze!! Root explorer (paid version) is my favorite file manager. theres post around for what to freeze. I just got the ICS Ota so im not sure my self what to freeze.
