Need Some help for rooting

Okay. I have a Boost Mobile Galaxy S2 running 4.1.2.The model is SPH-D710. Im trying to root it to have the 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 update. What do i need or what do i need to know? I've read the rooting guide but its outdated and doesn't make sense to me.

Ok I am running CM11 which is the best that this phone can run currently. Get the CM11 CM11 Files HERE

First time installing CyanogenMod 11 to your Epic 4G Touch, or coming from another ROM:
- Copy GApps and CM 11 zip's to your internal SD Card
- Make sure you're NOT RUNNING A KERNEL WITH THE MMC-SUPERBRICK-BUG
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Make sure you're not running a JB modem
- Boot into recovery Power + Volume UP
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET
- Flash CM 11 zip from internal SD Card
- Flash GApps zip from internal SD Card
- Reboot

Now you should be on Cyanogenmod 11...
