Root Need some help Rooting HTC Desire 2.2.2

Hi people,
I joined here today, because I really need some help trough rooting my HTC Desire 2.2.2 version.

Probably you all know how to do it, but I just become one of smartphone user, so I'm totally new in this, lost in space. If I'm boring, please don't be mad :)

So, I'll post my questions, not pretty good in writing English, but I can understand it, I hope you'll too.

1. How I can be sure my phone is not rooted already?
2. Where can I get tutorial for rooting 2.2.2 HTC Desire ?
3. I get message "internal memory is low" almost every day, I use some Cleaning things to keep my HTC clean, and also moved most of application with AppMgrIII from google play store. But still I get this message. Would rooting let me get some more space free ?
4. I would like to move Facebook application from phone to SD, if I get phone rooted I can do it right ?

If you have a lot of experience, please help me, and also give me some links for reading, because I want to be 100 % sure I can do it alone, because there is no one who can help me in this process, I don't wanna risk or lose my phone at all.
So, put me some usefull links, so I can manage where to start and what to do. I already search this forum a lot, reading bunch of threads and I'm still not sure which one will help me, and how.
Please help :)

If you need some info from my phone, like software info etc, please let me know :)

Regards,
Nazzgull

A simple way to check is to download this app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...tcheck&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd) and it will tell you if you have root access or not.

2. Where can I get tutorial for rooting 2.2.2 HTC Desire ?
Keep in mind I don't have your device, but for simply getting root, the procedure is basically the same for all HTC devices.
1. Unlock the bootloader through HTCdev
2. Add a custom recovery to the phone
3. Flash a rooted rom or flash superuser to add root to your existing setup.

If you want the full rooting experience you will likely want s-off. I would probably take a look at this guide:

http://androidforums.com/desire-all...ff-root-htc-desire-revolutionary-updated.html

3. I get message "internal memory is low" almost every day, I use some Cleaning things to keep my HTC clean, and also moved most of application with AppMgrIII from google play store. But still I get this message. Would rooting let me get some more space free ?
Yes it will. One thing it will allow you to do is delete the bloatware apps that came on the phone. Also, there are different roms that can be a lot smaller as well. Using a stock android rom will be a lot smaller than a Sense based rom. HTC Sense takes up a lot of room. Though the stock android experience is a lot different than sense!

4. I would like to move Facebook application from phone to SD, if I get phone rooted I can do it right ?
I am not 100% sure. I would assume you can, but I have not tested on your device.

A good place to start looking is in your devices all things root guide: http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/503471-desire-all-things-root-guide.html
There are a lot of links in there to read.

If you need some info from my phone, like software info etc, please let me know :)

I will do the best I can to answer questions, but hopefully someone with your device can assist as well. I selected the guide in your second question based on which software version you were on. Hopefully someone can confirm if that will be the best guide to follow!

As I do own this device, let me just add one small qualification to Brian's post. Don't use the HTCdev unlock - just follow the Revolutionary tutorial.

If you use HTCdev to unlock the bootloader you'll not be able to go S-Off, you won't be able to completely undo it and return to stock if you want to, and it will erase your device in the process. If you just use Revolutionary you get S-Off, it's possible to completely undo it if you want, and you lose no data.

Good luck - I'll drop in when I can, but the main thing is to make sure you've read and understood everything before you start.

P.S. Welcome to the forum :)

Thanks Hadron :)

I suppose I should have been more clear. My intention was to follow the guide rather than the htc dev unlock. I didn't know however that no s-off would be available if they went that route. Thanks four all the helpful information :)

For basically any htc phone, s-off is what you want. If there is an s-off method always go that route. If there is no s-off method available, you can always fall back on the htc dev bootloader unlock to at least get root on the phone. This method is a very limited root however and will limit what you can do on the phone. S-off is what will give you total freedom.

Thank you guys for this info :) I'll try that S-OFF and root HTC Desire thread, I'm currently on HBoot drivers, so when I pass that step I go forward :)

So I have just to follow your steps in that thread and I'll be fine ? :)
I got some info from phone,
PVT1 Ship s-On
HBoot - 0.93.0001

So I think I can proceed with steps right ?

Thank you both again,
Nazzgull

Yes, you'll be fine with that device type (PVT1) and hboot.

Re S-Off and HTCdev, it's because to use HTCdev you need to flash a new set of software that includes the unlockable bootloader (this device is older than the HTC unlock), and that bootloader is incompatible with Revolutionary (closes the exploit Revolutionary uses to get S-Off). So it's best to just use Revolutionary.

Okay, I did it! Everything is awesome! :) HBoot Screen have purple Revolutionary on top, it says also S-OFF and it's rooted now!

Thank you both guys for your time on me!

I would also like to install some custom ROM, because this HTC Sense is really annoying and I want some less battery use of all applications. Seems like when my battery get to 20 % or less Desire shutdown, I would like to fix that too.

So, if you have any other links for me, to help me trough this steps, please post it :)

Thank you again!

Or.. I can still use HTC Sense, but how to improve battery life ? And why HTC shutdown on 15 % battery ? + How to clean internal memory now?
Need that three answers and I won't bother you anymore :)

Have a read through the root guide section of this forum. All the information you need is there. The root memory faq will tell you about the options available for increasing memory.

For better battery you might like to try an AOSP ROM like mildwild oxygen.

The phone shuts down as 15% to protect your data. You can't change that add such but some Rom kernels will allow you to calibrate your battery display to read zero at the point it used to read 15%.
