Need Some Serious Advice!

I am a long ago past android user, but have had iphones for a while now. I had the iphone 3gs and then the iphone 4 on trial for a few days, but wanted to get back to an android phone.

I currently have the atrix on trial. The phone is really nice and I have had ZERO issues....until yesterday. I am now having problems with my wifi connection. I have a new, very capable wifi in my home so I know the problem is not with that device. The atrix constantly disconnects and I have a terrible time reconnecting. My husbands iphone 3gs has no problems and neither does my daughter's itouch nor does 3 computers. Also, if I am online surfing for a while and using my phone a good bit, it gets hot. The very small icons are also a little crazy to look at. Other than that, I do have to say that the phone is great and I feel that updates and future 4g capability will do great things for the atrix.

However, at this point, I am wondering if I should not try the inspire as I am still in my trial period. The manager at my local att store actually recommended the inspire over the atrix.

Any android phone is better than an iphone, in my opinion. I just wonder which is the best for my needs - atrix or inspire. I do a lot of video recording and uploading to facebook business sites and you tube business pages, web surfing, picture taking and so forth. I did notice that I am not able to easily upload videos from the atrix???

Any advice is much appreciated!

If you can try out the Inspire, it probably wouldn't hurt. I am not going to bash the Atrix cause I have never even touched one, but I came from Iphone 3gs and I couldnt be happier with the Inspire. The only con about it is I still cant figure out how to get it to make coffee. Damn HTC. :)

Thank you! Although coffee making might be a deal breaker.....:D

I've used both devices. I decided to keep my Inspire. It was smoother and offered a better software experience.

I think you'd enjoy the larger screen. It's noticable imo.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I switch phones alot cuz im never happy with what i have..but since i got the inspire i think im happy until something new comes out..but heres my experience..

I got the atrix day one and the battery life was horrible..wouldnt last 8 hrs and it went 100% to 30% on stand by mode overnight while i was sleeping. it also got warm to the touch while using it. The os was laggy especially using pinch to zoom under gallery and web. So i switched to another atrix thinkin i got a bad one..well the second one the battery was alot better but same lag and choppiness during pinch to zoom..plus the camera wasnt that good.

so i returned the second one and got the inspire and im a happy camper..love the phone..its fast, no lag, smooth pinch to zoom, big screen for web browsing..and best of all the camera is better than atrix..sharp and viewin it on the big screen is awesome..So i would definitely recommend the inspire..i really wanted the atrix to work for me cuz in writting it had the best hardware but i recommend the inspire.

Thank you! I think I am going to head to att today and at least try the inspire. I am still in my 30 day trial period. Even if I go back to the atrix, something about the Inspire makes me want to try it.

Do you feel like the screen resolution is good? The atrix is really nice, but the screen is small.

That is really helpful - thank you!

The small screen on the atrix is a little hard to deal with. I have also just started noticing some lag problems and I have had the phone for 11 days. It is also starting to get hot.

I also wanted the atrix to work as I like the hardware and feel like it could be a super phone if att would ever really get 4G.

Do you think the screen resolution is as nice on the inspire? Do you feel like it is fast like the atrix and does it have enough memory to download apps? I love the processor on the atrix and the speed. I do not love motoblur, but I installed another launcher. Do you think the inspire will get the gingerbread update?

Thanks again.

I've been one to defend the atrix due to how powerful it is. However over the past few days I've been using it more and more (i mall walk and go to AT&T store a lot). If you use both the Atrix and Inspire next to each other, you would think that the Inspire is a better spec'd phone. The Atrix is disappointing mainly because of Motoblur. It runs surprisingly choppy for a dual core phone.

Sure you can put a launcher on top of Motoblur, but even everything else just doesn't seem faster than the Inspire. Then add the bigger screen, better build quality, and cheaper price, the inspire wins in my book. Maybe a year from now it would be a different story, but we can't predict what happens in the future, might as well live for now.

I played with both phones for a while before buying the inspire. Imho, the atrix needs a lot of work before its up to par with the inspire. The specs on the atrix may be better but the user experience sucks IMHO.

I wish I would have taken more time with the Inspire but at least I now know exactly what the atrix is like.

The mgr at my local att has an inspire waiting for me to trade out later this afternoon with the atrix. He actually uses the inspire himself and he can have any phone in the store he wants. I can't wait to get the inspire!

Be careful with returning your Atrix. Although I love my inspire you will not be able to go back to the Atrix. AT&T only allows 1 exchange within the first 30 days. This is unless your AT&T store does things differently then the norm. I would ask though.

the screen res to me is about the same..the inspire has a sharp screen. too me the ghd screen on the atrix was all hype also..wasnt that great. Yes the inspire has well enough mem for apps. From my experience from atrix to inspire..the speed on inspire is awesome..no lag, fast response..web browsing exerpience is great. Plus you dont need another launcher like launcher pro or ADW. Sense ui is just pure heaven. im sure itll get gingerbread..htc is great at releasing updates.

the only gripe i have with the inspire is the speaker quality...its just ok..atrix was loud and clear..but thats my ONLY gripe.

also if you goto a corp store you can switch out more than one time..ive done it plenty of times without any question.

I picked up the inspire yesterday and love the phone! There is no comparision. It is pure eye candy, fast, responsive, and everything that I felt was lacking in the atrix.

Sense ui is amazing. Much better than apple ios and just no comparison to motoblur. I had so many launchers, widgets, and apps loaded to the atrix trying to get it to look and feel exactly what sense actually is.

The Mngr at my local store had so many good things to say about this phone and about htc in general. He said this is their best selling phone and holds close call to the iphone 4.

The speaker is not as good as the atrix, but I feel it is as good as my iphone 3gs.

Im glad you made the switch..i really wanted the atrix to work for me..in the beginning o told myself im not getting the inspire..no way..atrix is the best..well after i got it i was disappointed. Like you i installed launcher pro, beautiful widget to make it look like sense ui. It actually made the atrix slower. anyways the first inspire i got it was perfect..no issues at all so im a happy camper. you mentioned you browse the web alot so im sure the bigger screen will definitely make your browsing experience better.

yeah the speaker is not a good as the atrix but again i can deal with it..its not that bad..anyways have fun with the inspire and enjoy it:)
