Root Need testers for final All in One Root and ClockworkMod scripts for Indulge R910/R915 Win/Mac/Linux

Hi folks, I'm DRockstar, a developer who has worked on rooting scripts, kernels, and ClockworkMod...

UPDATE: Final All in One Root and ClockworkMod scripts are ready for testing, for both R910 and R915, I need testers now for Windows, Intel Mac, and Linux, please! Join the irc channel now to get more information!

About a month ago, Shabbypenguin brought me into the irc.fossnet.info #indulge channel to work on porting ClockworkMod for you guys...

I'm happy to report that ClockworkMod is ready for testing, with the first initial tests already done successfully. The current cwm test is for the SCH-R910 model only.

What I need at this point are more testers for the 910 model, and I need someone who has an SCH-R915 model in hand, to join the channel to provide me the information requires to port ClockworkMod for that model as well.

My ultimate goal is to write a single one click rooting script that has ClockworkMod incorporated for both models, but before I can do that, I need to get the info for the 915 model to continue. Namely, I need to know the output of the mount and df commands, which bmls are hosting the boot kernel and recovery kernel, a copy of the kernel init.rc, /system/build.prop, and /system/etc/fstab. There are other things I'll need to know, as well, that well need to be done in real time from the IRC channel.

Benefits of having ClockworkMod ported to the indulge:

* You'll be able to backup and restore the state of your phone
* You'll be able to flash ROMs and themes with zip files, not requiring a PC to do so.
* It'll be easier to develop ROMs and tools, knowing you can always go back to a backed up state.

R915 user here, will try and help with the R915 dev.
Not saavy with all the tech talk or acronyms so please bare with me and speak dumb to me. :]
 
A note for interested onlookers: this is NOT based on the Indulge source. It is based on Epic source. It works just fine - but it's not a sign we've made progress on the kernel package front. ;)

Everyone welcome DRockstar to the fold - he's been hanging out with us in #indulge for a while, and is one of the top kernel developers on the Epic 4G. He has produced the last two major versions of CWM for the Epic. We're happy to have him on the team.
 
I noticed an error on my phone after the stuff that went down on IRC the other day. 2 of the apps on my homescreen became the default android app symbol and when I clicked them it said that the programs were not installed. Im pretty sure these 2 apps were part of that zip you gave me, Any idea?
 
FYI for others: I tried installation and it failed on the writing of files. Phone reboot fixed it and it sailed right through.
I know others in IRC last night were having similar issues and this fixed it for them.
Backups work fine.

Yeah, we may need to take out the offending apps from /data/app

If you have them narrowed down to which ones they are, I'll try to help you be rid of them.

This is exciting, the first R915 user to respond... I'll make a script for that is one click, that should make it easier for both of us, to get the info I need for your phone. I'm generally been only able to be in the irc channel after about 8PM Pacific time, so if you can be in the channel sometime, I'll make everything easy for you, and it'll really help out the whole community.

I will have my Cricket Samsung Galaxy Indulge R915 in-hand sometime next week, so you can count me in on helping with the ClockworkMod as I'm a huge fan of the recovery program and have used it on previous phones. Just figured I'd give you a heads up ahead of its arrival since I will have it rooted and ready to go from day 1.

I have been scanning the web for an opportunity to get CWM working
on my device so i can get a custom rom. I will definitely help out and
I know cricket services. def count me in...

Everyone reading this right now, please go on the IRC and download the ClockworkMod script DRockstar just finished so we can test it on as many computers as possible before he releases it.
Don't forget to report the sizes of the .img files as requested.

Downloaded the script and ran on my phone no prob..says it was installed aok..

More info..I root and install aok..but where do I find the clockwork mod on the phone..lost as to what to do afbter the script runs successfully (option #1)..any help is appreciated!!
 
Now you need to do a backup by booting into recovery mode.
Power off the device, then power it up by holding Power+R together.
It'll boot into the recovery partition.
From there, scroll down to backup/restore and make a backup.
It'll take a little while, depending on how many apps you have installed.
When it's over, it'll go back to the previous screen and you can just reboot the phone (choose reboot now)
When the phone is all booted up, using Root explorer or while the sdcard is mounted unto a computer, find the sizes of the .img files in /sdcard/clockwordmod/backup/(dated folder)
Of particular importance are the sizes of boot.img and recovery.img, but I sent all 6 files to Drockstar.
