Root Need to do stock backup, what is the best option?

So I just noticed that my Evo V has a dead pixel in the screen, it is going to drive me nuts so I need to exchange it. I would love to avoid having to setup my phone the way I want it all over again so what is the easiest method of backing up my phone to the SD card?

Can I use the stock recovery or do I need to root and install CWM or 4EXT?

Thanks!

I wouldn't go with CWM. Only version that works is touch for evo 3d cmda and I havnt tested all its features and noone else has either. I would go with TWRP or 4ext either is fine. If you wanna go back to stock to exchange if if you rooted it or whatnot u can flash the stock RUU (look for the guide on that).

If you're going to be installing the same rom you can make a complete nandroid backup but if you switch roms you should just backup your apps and not data. Trying to import settings between roms is usually a no go due to force closes.
