Need to get an Incredible 4, but keep my unlimited plan, with release date after the 28th. arg.

Okay here's the problem. My wife's line has unlimited data and $10 off the data price, so I'd like to keep that plan. That means I need to upgrade her phone before the 28th. The problem is she wants the smallest of the new smartphones and thus wants another Incredible phone. But now the release date appears to be after the 28th of June, and maybe is July the 5th.

So can I buy a subsidized phone right before the 28th. Lock in the new contract, and then return it for an Incredible 4 before the 15days are up on the trial period adn thus get an incredible and keep my plan?

I am pretty sure you can do this. However there hasn't been a release date announced for the Inc. 4G yet, so you may run out of time. So it's a risk.

I could preorder a Samsung S3 and sell it outright, I could be an alternative way to get her a smaller phone with the newest technology.

Like you said, best bet is to order SG3 and sell it for $500 or so...buy next phone at full retail and maybe take a loss of $50-$100. Better than losing unlimited.

Just to give yourself some more time, if you purchase a phone at Bestbuy you have 30 days to exchange it (they still have the 15 day restriction if you want to not be obligated to the new contract). And I have done that before when I needed to upgrade and the phone I really wanted was 2-3 weeks from release.

You know, I never thought to ask, if you pre-order the SGS3, do you still get 14 days from the day you activate it to exchange it? Or because of the extended pre-order period, are you stuck with it?

I know at Bestbuy it is the the day you receive it is the 1st day of the return period, the day you order it doesn't affect anything

I seem to remember someone saying recently on AF that Best Buy (like other resellers) would consider something like the delivery date as the activation date of the contract.

Given that the 3 isn't due to be delivered until early July the poster stated that this would mean you were going to miss out on the 6/28 deadline.

You may want to look at some of the other threads here to get more information.

So really, with the pre-order rules, assuming Verizon is the same way, people will have three weeks into July to wait for the Inc 4G, as opposed to two weeks after the 27th... And will only have to pay a $35 restocking fee, as opposed to possibly losing $100 or more on a resale and unsubsidized purchase... Assuming of course, they don't fall in love with the S3 first ;)

Upgrading to get the phone you want and trying to keep unlimited is begining to sound an awful lot like a weekend trip to Las Vegas.

event he july release of the inc 4g is just a rumor for now. for all we know it could get delayed another couple months - like it already has.

i guess i'm paying for a maxx so i can keep my unlimited data... :(

What the difference between the 15 day and 30day return periods? Or is there really only a 15day. If I get her a S3 on preorder and they give us 15days that puts us out to about July 25th. Perhaps enough time for the Incredible to get released. If I have 30days, but maybe owe a restocking fee, that's no big deal either and I could be out to early Aug.

I don't know about any 30 day policy from Verizon, but I do know Bestbuy.

Before 15 days you can return the phone, cancel the contract, and not be responsible for any ETF.

After 15 days you are locked into your new contract, but you may still exchange your phone for a different one if you would like.

I've found that keeping my Grandfathered unlimited data to be a real challenge, so going via Best Buy may add another change to hose this up. Right now I'm in the process of trying to get Verizon to reinstate my Unlimited data and $20 data discount that was suppose to be automatically kept in place. But Verizon didn't do the "Automatic" grandfathering" and now I'm fighting that battle. (But I digress)

Both me and my girlfriend had zero issues upgrading through best buy and keeping our unlimited data (although this was a could months ago).
