hi all my fellow evo v 4g owners! i am in search of a little help rooting my device. i have downloaded the files needed to root, htc sync, twrp, sdk, and a rom, i will be using unsensable. i have also unlocked with htcdev. i just need to know that i am extracting and storing these files in the correct location/s. i extracted the sdk to my C: drive in a file i created named sdk-tools. that is also where i stored the twrp file. i moved the ROM img to my sd card in a new folder named ROMs. just want to know if im on the right track.

Yep all good! Sounds like you're right on track with the guide! :) If you get stuck, let us know and we'll get ya sorted. There are a lot of us around these parts that can help.

Have you checked YouTube? When I rooted mine, videos by TheTechTechies and Mr. Lichstein were helpful, sometimes following directions is made easier by watching

thanks for the encouragement guys. i put it off for a couple days due to school and whatnot, now im back at it and stuck. :/ i rebooted into bootloader and tried to flash the recovery.img but all my command prompt says is waiting for device and nothing happens. all the files are placed and stored correctly, i dont know what i am doing wrong. any advice would be greatly appreciated. also ive watched a few videos on youtube and i have followed those directions to a t up to where i flash the recovery image. like i said, when i try nothing happens. ????????????

After you unlocked the bootloader did you go back into your settings and enable USB debugging and uncheck fastboot?

After unlocking the bootloader, your phone factory resets and those settings go back to default.

I ask because it sounds like a driver issue/issues with the phone being recognized by the pc. If the problem was location of the files, you'd see a different return from command prompt.

Obviously you have working drivers if you just used them to unlock the bootloader, so that's my first guess. Fingers crossed that it's that simple.

thank you brian. usb debugging was enabled however fastboot was still checked. i unchecked it and now im going to give it a shot.

no luck im starting from scratch after class today. i uninstalled everything but the recovery image and the jmz stock ROM. after i install the sdk is there anything i need to update on it?
