Help Need urgent help... IMEI "not found"

I have just purcahsed an unlocked SGS2 phone on today...

And OMG, to my surprise my carrier (Telus) does not seem to support it. The IMEI number of the phone "cannot be found" in their system.

Does anyone have similar experience before? Is there aq work around?

I am wondering:

1) How can I confirm that the phone is truly unlocked?

2) Within the "Network Mode" menu of my phone, I can only see GSM and WCDMA. No where does it mention UMTS or HSPA... is this normal?

I search the web before and there are ppl with SGS2 working with Telus.... that's why I bought it in the first place. It seems a little strange because for unsupported phone, the system would return a definitive answer stating the the IMEI is not supported (rather than not found)

Anyhow, any tips would be truly appreciated......

Hello and wecome to Android Forums happyfish1974.

Just a few questions if you don't mind.

1. Go to the keypad and type in... *#1234# and it will show 4 lines of information under your version number. What are they?

2. Was the phone purchased from a shop, the web or a private sale?

Your Network Mode showing WCDMA and GSM is correct.

Thanks for the support Ironass! After typing in *#1234# I got the following:

PDA: I9100MUGKG2
PHONE: I9100MUGKG2
CSC: I9100MBMCKG2
Build Info: Tue Jul 12 10:19:43 KST 2011

I purchased the phone from a shop (NCIX.com).... it is supposed to be a "manual unlocked" phone....

Update:

My phone is indeed unlocked and Telus DOES support it.

Although the phone's IMEI cannot be found in their system, it still works! One just need to go ahead to activate the SIM card.
