Need Your Honest Opinions

Crescendo

Newbie
So I've been patiently waiting for the Galaxy Nexus 4G on Verizon like most of you here, and have been pretty excited for its upcoming release. That being said, I am honestly getting to the point where I need a new phone now, and the closer it gets to Christmas, the less money I'll have to spend on buying myself a new phone (I'll have to buy outright on both Sprint and Verizon).

My question is this:

Do I wait for the GNex and all of the cool things that come with it such as Verizon's 4G LTE, Dual Core Processor, LED notifications (huge plus for me), among other things and spend the $600-$700 this phone will be off contract...

Or...

Do I just suck it up and buy a Nexus S 4G on my Sprint line, and slap an ICS rom on it and spend $200-250, and miss out on all of the new features? I really want to wait on this phone, but I need a something better asap.

I think overall, I'm more excited and interested in ICS more than anything, and given the ability to slap ICS on the Nexus S made me consider buying it, but the new hardware is definitely a factor in my decision.

Just wanted to get you guys thoughts and see what you'd do.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies!

The real question is, are you unlimited on Verizon? If you've answered yes to this question, I would recommend you hold out for the galaxy nexus. Verizon's network trumps sprints all day long.

If you get the Nexus S you will spend everyday with it wishing you had waited a few more days for the GNex. All indications are that this phone is worth the wait and the money if you are into having a great mobile device.
All signs are pointing to a release next Thursday. I would definitely wait....

Yes, I do have unlimited on Verizon.

Regardless of that, I would say wait and get the Galaxy Nexus, it is worth it. Also don't pick a carrier for a phone, do it for service. I learned that the hard way.

True.

True as well. Thanks you guys for your replies and insight. I guess after watching all the YouTube videos about the Nexus S 4G running ICS combined with my need for a new phone was about to push me over the edge. I think I'll wait and be a little more patient, especially since itdoes seem as though the release is upon us. I'm about to run to the bank and put money aside specifically for the Galaxy Nexus. That's gonna be my Christmas present to myself!

Thanks again!

Do NOT get Nexus S 4G. I have it and it sucks. Horrible horrible Wifi and 4G reception. Bad cell reception. Bad camera. Do i need to say more?

Want to see how bad Wifi is? See: http://androidforums.com/nexus-s-4g/451791-nexus-wifi-comparison.html

I can't agree that the Nexus S sucks. I have used it since it's first day of release and it has been a great phone. WiFi worked for me when I needed it...which wasn't often. Mostly on planes. Perhaps it was carrier related. I do agree the camera did suck.

Having said that, the Galaxy Nexus blows the S away. LOVE this phone.

Too bad the opening poster is in bed with Verizon. I have unlimited date, voice and text with T-mobile...and if I chose to I could just pop an AT&T sim in and use that if I choose.

No choice with CDMA. It's a Toyota car that can only be filled up at Toyota gas stations.
