-Is that battery length based on the standard or extended battery?

lol@ this question after my "Cialis" joke...

I'd say that you're going to see better battery life with either battery. For the record, the Vigor/Rezound battery will fit in the stock TB housing and it's 1620 mAh.

Thank you, I'm an idiot hahaha

I've never rooted before, but I am relatively tech savvy. Thoughts on ease of rooting/applying a ROM as well as time it will take to do so? I kinda want to give it a shot tonight, just a little apprehensive that I might brick my phone.

You'd really have to not pay attention to what you're doing to brick it. As long as you don't go head first into a new ROM then you'll be ok. What I typically do is wait for WormDoes, Scotty85, and Yeahha to beta test the ROMs for me. They don't know they're my guinea pigs so shhhhh!

With revolutionary rooting is super easy. Just read over the sticky in the all things root section. Flashing a rom involves setting up the phone again and will take a little while the first few times you do it but gets easier the more you do it. I can flash a rom and be back to normal in less than 15 minutes. Make sure to read the how tos and ask questions if you need any clarification

-Is that battery length based on the standard or extended battery?

-The only widget I really love is the standard flip clock/weather one that they have on all of their commercials, otherwise I think I could part with sense and just purchase beautiful widgets.

-May I ask which ROM you're running?

-I appreciate your insight, everything seems to be pointing to Rooting this thing and rolling with it. It's running great right now, but lord knows after a few weeks of usage I'll probably see some annoying things.
Yup, standard battery. Those times get inflated because it lasts most of the day and all night now usually. So obviously, not much use at night. That's why I mentioned the screen on time. I'd say it averages really 13-16 hours of daytime use. That's with power down to around 15-20%, by the way.

I use Fancy Widgets to replace the clock widget. Much better than the sense widget, although I did have to tweak some of the weather widget icon graphics. Some are ported and they have some faint background coloring where they were cut from another system that didn't blend or totally disappear. I'm sure most people don't even notice it but I'm kinda anal sometimes.

I am using Droid Theory's BlackSource rom. I'm not sure you can still get that one as his site went down, but I have gotten the exact same results with Droid Theory's ShiftAOSP rom. Find the right rom/kernel mix and you can really extend the battery.

What! Is it very slightly larger or the exact same size?

So it will wipe all my apps and everything and I'll have to re-download and set up my email accounts and such?

I'm hoping this won't be too long for me.

PS what would you suggest as your favorite Sense and non-sense ROMs?

I'm not SUPER bothered by using the extended battery, but clearly it would be nice to be able to just use the stock battery and have it not completely suck!

Rooting via revolutionary doesn't wipe your data. You can use titanium backup to backup your data when flashing a rom for user apps you will have to sign into Gmail once you flash but then you just restore your apps and you don't have to download everything again.

I am currently using liquid 3.0 which is AOSP I haven't run any sense based rom since June so I can't tell which one of those are the best

On the plus side, though, you will never lose your data again as you can back everything up(apps, app data, homepage setup) once you are rooted. I have to say, the peace of mind that affords is worth the price of rooting by itself. I honestly don't think I can use an unrooted phone again.

I might have to take your word and just try the one you're using first. I think I can probably live without sense for sure.

Just wondering on an app level, I do love Facebook for HTC Sense because it links contacts to FB profiles and pulls down their pics. Anything like that in the market that you know of?

This will be nice. I just got the TB yesterday and trying to set everything back up like I had my INC was a real pain in the behind.

I don't know of an app that links your contacts to Facebook, but I also have never looked for one. I know the stock Android contacts app doesn't do this. I actually got annoyed with the sense one because it kept changing the custom pics I had set up back to the Facebook pics(over and over again), but it was nice for my contacts that I didn't have a pic for. I'll bet there are some out there that do it, though.

After you root it's pretty easy to switch roms to try out different ones.

Of course there are many sense roms out there that will give you the full sense experience, only better.

I like DT's ShiftAOSP for an AOSP rom(although I haven't tried Liquid). BAMF seems to do the best sense roms, but DT also has a good one called ShiftSense. The All Things Root forum is the place to get your answers as far as roms and kernels.

It's easy to switch between roms once you are rooted, so you can try several out quickly. The only setup is setting up home screens, Titanium will do everything else. And, if you use some sort of launcher app, you can even save your homescreen setups.

I'll have you guys know, I'm officially rooted thanks to the Revolutionary video.

Now just to take the nervous plunge of attempting to use a new ROM.

Thanks for all the input, you guys have been a huge help!!!

Welcome to the true side of android your blazer and cigar are on the table. I can't give you answers to facebook question because I loathe facebook :D

Fits inside the stock TB housing. I had some "testing" results in one thread. I think I used both batteries for 4 hours under moderately heavy use and saw 20 or so percent on the stock battery after 4 hours and over 50% on the 1620 battery.

Once again wanted to thank everyone that's given me help and advice in here. I'm now rooted and have screwed around with a few different ROMs.

I did like the Liquid ROM, but I can't get past the difference in dialer. I'm so used to being able to type a contacts name with the keypad and it's a major sticking point for me. Anyone have any thoughts regarding that?

How well does the wireless tethering app work on Liquid? The only rom I found that worked well with the wireless tethering app is Gingeritis.

Haven't tried it, but if I get a chance to this evening I will. I'm pretty happy with my results with this so far.

I tried the BAMF Sense 3.0 ROM as well, it also was pretty nice, but I think I'll get better battery life/faster response out of the Liquid ROM.

I tried it briefly today with no success at all. I may have to do a bit more extensive testing to verify, but it looks to be shotty at best....

Unfortunately I'm really liking my setup.

The rush is my hardware on/off button is dying. It's gotten progressively worse over the past 2 weeks to the point where it's barely usable. If it wasn't going I wouldn't make any change right now at all.

Verizon has said that I can do an early upgrade either this Friday on the phone or a month in advance of my date. Clearly new phones won't be out by this Friday and I don't think this thing will last a month. I'm thinking of just getting the Thunderbolt and then saving my upgrade for a bit later when there are more ICS phones out.

Started to give my 4 cents, then realized I had no money and you had made your decision.

When I first read the title of this thread...I got a little excited! I mistakenly thought there was a slight possibility that someone was doing some research for a class action! I'm on board for it! I'd say 6 months of free sevice and a brand new rezound or razr would suffice. False Advertising?!?
