Hey guys :)
I'm having a hard time trying to upgrade my galaxy tab GT-P1000 to android 2.3

I've tried searching all over the web for tutorials but most of the youtube tutorials shows that their device build number are all gingerbread whereas mine is froyo.
is it okay to follow their tutorials even though the build number is different?
and what's the advantages and disadvantages of them?

I'm kinda new to this, so I need help desperately

Thanks in advance for your reply
xoxo

Hey Minzy, as I said in your intro thread, I went ahead and moved this to the Samsung Galaxy Tab forum. Sounds like you already got some good advice.

According to what I found the GT-P1000 is the Hong Kong version of the Galaxy Tab. GALAXY Tab P1000 Android 2.3.3 upgrade Might you have that specific model? I read through the tutorial and it's pretty standard Samsung stuff. Get the version of Kies for your tablet and try to update it that way first. Let us know if Kies recognizes the update and if you have any problems.

Thanks you so much guys for your replies, but i think none of it works :'(
so I went further into the net and searched for more tutorials....

...and I screwed up my tab. It just got hanged at the Samsung logo and rebooting the system or factory reset won't work.

I think the problem is, I followed a tutorial [link:How to update Galaxy Tab P1000 to 2.3.6 Gingerbread - YouTube ] and I missed a part where he says device MUST NOT be rooted, and so I continued to follow his instructions using Odin to upgrade. After the Odin, my tab just went wrong..I tried restarting and rebooting but it didn't do any good, so I repeated the Odin process but this time by choosing re-partition.

I know I got myself into some hella mess but I really appreciate for your help..

There are a couple of things we need to clarify first, Your Tab Model number is the GT-P1000, with no letter afterwards? And, what country was this model setup for. It's important that you get the firmware for not only the correct model, but the correct country.

Also, can you get the tab into recovery? or only into download mode at this point?

I found a list of some of the various firmware packages for the Galaxy Tab. See if what you need is listed here: Samsung P1000 / L / M / N / R / T / Galaxy Tab Firmwares

Sorry to hear your having problems, but so long as you can get into download mode theres still hope.

We just need to identify exactly which version of the tablet you have and find the correct firmware.

To be clear though did you do a factory reset from recovery mode after flashing the tablet? and can you still get into download mode?
