Root Netarchy-Toastmod SBC 4.3.4 More Agressive Havs Weird Animation/Camera Issue

I'm on MikG 2.57 with Netarchy-Toastmod 4.3.4 More Aggressive Havs SBC and am getting great battery usage although I'm having a few issues since flash.

I've had this kernel loaded for a few days then went to take pictures/video and my screen was just a bright white. I changed from back to front camera, and it still didn't work. Just a white screen. Even more weirder is that I got a third party camera app for panaramic and the camera works on that app! And then even weirder is that on my YouTube app, none of the videos are displaying. Just a blank white screen. Same thing with videos on the Vevo app. And when I go to play games like BT Gangsta, Gun Bros, and E. Warriors, the "Glu" animation in the beginning is white. The BT Gangsta animations that loads after the Glu logo also is just a white screen. Even weirder, there is audio but no video.

I am very happy with the battery use that I am getting but I would really love to get this straightened out. Is it possible that I have the wrong version of the kernel?

that unfortunately is a froyo kernel and you will have the issues you are getting if you are on gingerbread. unfortunately there is no kernel for gingerbread sense that has sbc. and i doubt that we will get it.

Oh wow!! Really?? That is really something cause I didn't even see anything on the XDA page that suggested that. Well other than this problem, it's a pretty nice kernel and gets great usage. I haven't tried watching videos on Netflix or through the browser on YouTube so I might check those out and report back with any details. But anyway, thanks. That explains most of it lol

yeah you know from what i have heard about this kernel on gingerbread was that it broke the camera and video. so if you can live without it then enjoy.

right now there are only a few gingerbread kernels out: golden monkey, chop suey, and freedom kernels. you can also use kernel manager to download poon sense kernel (which i have never tried).

For anyone wondering:
Videos through the Netflix app and through the browser (at least on YouTube) work with audio and video.

Very interesting...

Is the damage permanent to the camera/video? Say if I switch another kernel or another ROM?

I never saw Golden Monkey or Poon on the XDA link I use. I guess they haven't updated it. Thanks! I really miss SBC but love Sense. Thanks for the tip. I'll check them out.

yeah it has been awhile since netarchy worked on golden monkey. not sure what he is working on now. and you can get poon sense with only the kernel manager app.

i do not think it is a hardware thing. more of a software issue so you should be good to go as long as you know your camera does not work.

Through the ClockWork app or a Poon app or another?

Thanks. I'll report back if it begins working again or what happens if I switch to another kernel/ROM.

for poon sense you need this app:
Kernel Manager.

this is the lite version. you can support the devs and get the pro version for $3.99. but i only recommend that you use it to download kernels. the app will flash the kernel for you if you like, but i would recommend that you do it manually.

Very cool. Thank you ocnbrze. Hope you are enjoying your Evo 3D :)

hell yes i am. the evo 3d is an amazing phone. there is not the variety of roms out for it, but i'm on the cleanrom which is a cleaned up stock sense 3.0 rom. it is weird as i was already on sense 3.0 on my og evo that my phone does not feel new. it just feels like an evo on speed because it is so fast. it makes me smile:)

but i digress. if you try the poon sense kernel, let us know how it is for you. i never tried it.

lol I went for Golden Monkey and it doesn't seem too bad. If I try Poon, I'll surly update on its progress. GM isn't too bad on battery life and my YouTube, camera, etc. came back after flashing the new kernel so it wasn't permanent as to be expected.

Thanks for the heads up, Frenchy.

I went ahead and switched to Poon. It is running very nicely on my phone and has been for the last two days or so. And I see a difference between it and Golden Monkey in battery performance and speed. In my opinion, this one makes the phone run more smoothly.

Oddly enough too, that problem that I was having with infinite reboot on MikG has gone away since flashing this kernel. The phone still reboots at random times but once it reboots, it will come back to the Android homescreen after one boot like normal. It's weird but I think I'm going to stick with Poon just for these reasons.

Can you give me the link to dl Poon so I can add it to the ROM's/Kernel's sticky?

Yeah, I think Rxpert83 is right. I downloaded it through the kernel manager lite app but can't find it or Golden Monkey anywhere on the net like XDA.

I've never seen Poonsense on xda. I originally got Golden Monkey from there.
