Help netflix and printing

headwolf1

Lurker
I have 2 questions about my Moto Xoom

1] can I stream Netflix yet?

2) what is the best wireless printing app? I have an HP wireless printer

Thanks

1) Pretty sure not.
2) Someone else will need to chime in
3) This might be better asked in the Xoom forum (errr is there one?)

playon is a workaround solution until dedicated apps are here. i think plaayon is also 5 bux a month as well.

no i do not believe everything is streamed in HD.

1. Streaming will work with netflix if you're "clever". Basically the webpage will work as long as you change your web-browser so it doesn't report that it is an android tablet, as that's all Netflix is reading. Play with the debug settings

2. Google Cloud Print services are up if you are using google gears/chrome. You can use that to share a printer from your PC.

The printer question leads to a bigger question though .... tablets are more like PCs than phoens in what they need ot be able to connect to, but there doesn't seem to be any samba/NFS/whatever to link to NAS devices with. I hope this gets added ... because otherwise my tablet feels like an island rather than a connection point.

Since when? I'd heard that as a workaround for Hulu, and although it doesn't work (I tried) I could see how it could, with flash working. Netflix uses Silverlight, not Flash, so I don't see how that could possibly work.

you mean a file browser for your network?

there's plenty in the market.

i happen to enjoy es fileexplorer. I think astro has a plugin. there's even an app (wifi explorer maybe?) that lets you browse your xoom from your network pc's.

what if we change to ipad?

I didn't bother trying since I thought they blocked it but maybe....

I'll have to try it when i get home tonight...

No, the problem isn't what device it sees, the problem (beyond any DRM issues, if it really thought the Xoom was a PC) is that we don't have silverlight anyway, so you can't trick it into working. Even the iPad can't stream Netflix through the browser as far as I know, pretty sure they have to use the app.
