Netflix App Added Devices

Doesn't show Captivate as supported, but the market says it is supported. I installed it, and it seems to work just fine for me.

I am running rooted stock Froyo.

Works fine on mine 2.2 rooted. I did have to uninstall the XDA modified apk first to get it to install though

Anyone know why it would need to have this permission?

READ SENSITIVE LOG DATA
Allows an application to read from the system's various log files. This allows it to discover general information about what you are doing with the device, potentially including personal or private information.

From what I know of the permission, it generally should not be used by most applications.

My guess?
This is their anti-piracy measure. Remember they wouldn't release an Android app for the longest time because of piracy, er um "security", concerns? I suspect their solution resides here.

Working great on my non-rooted Captivate running the official 2.2 :)

What link did you use to get it? I tried and it is saying my device is unsupported and I am running the Captivate with stock Froyo 2.2

- Sorry. Looks like it might be the wonderful "In Canada" problem again. When I drilled down on the Netflix page in the Android Market it showed the reason that it was not compatible was that it was not supported in the country I am in.

Anyone have it running on an unrooted Captivate in Canada?

UPDATE: Found the latest .apk and installed it and it is working!! Issue with lag but that is probably more to do with lousy wifi signal than anything else. Finally Netflix on my captivate in Canada!!!

Added it last night and it works great. I have been waiting for this app to be available since it was announced.

I can't find where I got it from but the name of the file was

com.netflix.mediaclient_246.apk. I downloaded this to my laptop and then emailed it to myself in Gmail and then clicked install on the attachment and it all worked.
Send me a direct message if you can't find it and I can email you the file.

DLed it from market this morning and when i try to play a movie I keep getting an error message saying cannot connect to Netflix server. I am on my work's wifi. I'll try it at home tonight to see if maybe my network is blocking it or something.

Is this the APK that you installed? This is the one that worked for me.

com.netflix.mediaclient_246.apk

I got a free trial and it works great. Thanks to Copronymous for starting this thread and to The Shape for answering my questions!

200th post!!!

apparently I do not know my password or my user name. Oh, and it keeps timing out so I cannot sign in. Lame.

Thanks SOO - I've been trying to get this working for so long. Excited that it may actually work now. I just installed it, and it's working so far.
