Netflix or blockbuster app

does anyone know when the incredible will be getting the blockbuster app and when netflix will be releasing their app for android?
 
Phoneflicks lets you sort your que and add stuff, but you can't watch (and it's been crashing a lot). I'm patiently awaiting the actual Netflix app. I remember seeing news that Netflix had hired an android specific video developer to work it out.

Honestly, the browser does a great job of organizing the Queue. Whenever I have to sneak out to Redbox, I bust out my phone and remove the movie I pick up from my Queue (I HATE when I end up getting a movie shipped that I just saw last week).

Anyway, to the OP: I too am anxiously awaiting the release of the Video viewing capability for a native app. But I can't help but wonder if Full Flash 10.1 will negate the need...
 
yeah I would like to at least have the blockbuster app already but i guess this is out the question at the moment, we all need to wait for netflix and I do hope it doesn't take that long
 
Can Blockbuster, in their current financial downfall, develop and support an app?

Flixster/Movies has a Netflix sync to view your movie queue, however I don't think there are any tools to add movies with it.
 
Like someone else said, I know Netfilx is working on an Android app, as far as the blockbuster app, seems a bit pointless to me, why should I pay full DVD price for a movie that is locked to a few devices and I don't get all of the special features as well. Digital downloads are a joke for the money.....
 
that's stupid. i'm getting an android phone, so every android phone should be able to use the same software. i'm getting an incredible, not a G1, the incredible's only 3 months older than the X, not 3 years. i don't like that. video rental/buying is one area that Apple is a lot better than android in, and this is not helping.

So I guess you are one of the 25 people out there still using Blockbuster, huh? :o

TBH, when I saw that they were preloading a Blockbuster app on some phones I thought "WTH good is that going to do when the company falls deeper and deeper into the crapper every quarter??".

Go ahead and switch to Netflix. Almost $10 cheaper and they'll still be around next year.

It's only three months older, but it has an entirely different hardware spec, which means that a video app optimized to display on the Droid X isn't necessarily going to look exceptional on the Incredible..

More importantly why would anyone want to use such a crappy app in the first place? You have to pay ~$4 per download. Movies are downloaded, not streamed. You must be on wi-fi to download. The download expires 24 hours after you start watching it or 30 days after downloading, whichever comes first. Oh, and lest I forget that, at least on the Droid X, the movie can only be viewed on the phone, not on a connected tv.
 
LOL I use to work for blockbuster and this is just a move to keep there investors happy.

But as someone said earlier I think that 2.2 and flash 10.1 will probably bring us a step closer to having netflix on our phones.

actually, i haven't rented a movie in years. literally! ;)

i am more interested in the fact that you CAN buy or rent movies, cuz that's where Android is lacking now. unless you know of another way that you can rent/buy movies on android.

on iTunes, you can buy/rent movies and carry it between your iphone, computer, etc. android, as far as i know, doesn't have anything like that.
so if i want a movie on my phone, i need to convert it myself. not that big of a deal, but when i see a $10 movie and it's just a download away, i'd just buy it, it'd be easier.

i know the hardware is not the same, but come on, they should both be able to play the same movie, you know?
 
Hi everyone,

I apologize for sounding like a complete idiot with this question and realize it may have been answered several times before, but I need to just get the courage to ask someone. First off, I have a Droid Incredible and while I love many aspects of it, there's a few things I'm finding frustrating. However, in keeping with this particular thread, I'm wondering if there's a way to watch TV or movies on my Droid. As of yet, I haven't found an app that would allow that. Also, I agree with Terabethia regarding Blockbuster's failing business, so it does seem like a waste to have on the Droid X. I've been a netflix member for about 7 years and I'm in love with it, so I would love to see an app for that come out for Androids. However, when it comes to TV, I really don't get a chance to watch TV and tend to catch up on hulu and was wondering if anyone had any advice about an app for watching TV on my Incredible? As long as I'm here, would anyone mind explaining a couple things to me-1. What is froyo? 2. How do I access my SD card (apparently ringtons were saved on it and then disappeared from my phone. All of a sudden My phone randomly said low disc space but that had more to do with a malfunctioning app called Blink that I uninstalled, still, would like to know how to deal with somehow saving programs and just retrieving items from my SD card) and 3. What is G1, G2, and G3? I was a previous BlackBerry user so most of this lingo is VERY new to me.

Why can't you download a movie on iTunes and put it on your Inc? Doubletwist syncs with iTunes. I assume they can do movies too. Someone else can suggest a video player (Rockplayer maybe?)

Froyo is Android 2.2 operating system. Coming to your Incredible soon. Google it (or do a search here) and you will find all of its benefits. (incredible was shipped with 2.1 Eclair)

Your ringtones need to be saved in a folder named ringtones, I believe.

1x, 3G...... has to do with the network. 1x is a weaker network, 3G stronger and 4G is the next generation which wont work on Incredible anyway.

If you have this many question, my suggestion is to do a few searches of this forum. I know the low space issue has been talked about here before. If you cant find the answer, start a new thread with your question.

you can add movies, there is an option under my movies. so whenever I see something on TV. I go to flixster and a Netflix icon shows up in that movie selection at the bottom of the page to add that movie to my queue. I believe I can delete as well

There's a TV.com app that supports shows from a number of channels, but by no means a complete list. Some of the companies (NBC?) also stream directly from their web site, so you can access shows directly there. There is no hulu yet for the android, but hopefully soon...

This works pretty slick. I've only got it working on local Wifi, but it supposedly works over 3G. Playon also lets you stream free web content to consoles.
 
Haha! Something I can actually help with. I know CBS let's you stream directly from their site. A more complete list of shows than the app (which I have but don't use much). Also, PBS has a few shows available. That comes in handy for watching Masterpiece when my husband is wielding the remote.

With Blockbuster being put up on the market recently, I honestly can't imagine the purchaser keeping them going much longer than to just sell off whatever they can of the company (if there's even anything left).

For Netflix I use Flixster right now and I've been very happy with it.
