I found a link to this Droid life article on twitter. It looks like Netflix could work on unrooted froyo devices with these apks.

The source is still XDA but for some reason I couldn't download these directly from them. Maybe it was just a problem with my wife's LG Ally.

With the steps taken, I've gotten Netflix running now on my D1 with CM 7.0.2
I also actually have the Netflix app moved to my SD and still running well.
I appreciate the assistance in trying to troubleshoot this johnlgalt.

There is a version of the .apk that is on xda that allowed me to use netflix on my recently unrooted, stock froyo D1. It is the one that is named device check disabled. Use this link

Man, I still love my D1. Works great on SS 5.2
