Help network error message for network only

I get a "network error while trying to sign into <my gmail account>" when trying to use the market, even thoug I am successfully synching contacts and using the calendar which is linked to my gmail account

Any ideas?

I am a complete newbie

It can happen if your network coverage is weak..Apparently gmail and conntacts use lot less network recources than market

Thanks. It worked this morning in the kitchen and at work Apparently the guy from the shop was trying it for days!
