Network mode

When I bought my phine network mode was and is set to global. What is the difference between that and LTE/CDMA and GSM? For 4G which mode?
If I want to conserve battery life in an area with poor 4g coverage and turn off 4g which mode?

LTE is the biggest drain on battery especially if you have a poor signal. Switch to CDMA or GSM to conserve battery. But note that which network to choose will be specific to the carrier you're with.

Edit: unless it's set to auto detect which network to fall back to. In which case, leave it as is. Mine is set to LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto mode). It will automatically switch to the appropriate network with a strong signal.
