I keep trying to sign into my old account and it's not allowing me. Instead it reads Network unavailable. Has anyone else had this problem or know why?

Cheetah Mobile( ) in Beijing discontinued that app and service a while back. The servers were shut down, that's why you're seeing "Network unavailable", and the app was removed from the Play Store.

This is the reason I never rely on cloud backups: "the cloud" means "someone else's server", which means that it's only available as long as it suits that organisation to keep it going (or until they mess up, or decide to charge more, etc).

They can be convenient, but never make them your only backup of anything important.

(In the case of CM they will have trawled the backup for any data they could monetize, because that's how that company operates. Avoid them completely).
