Root network unlock a rooted phone

Hi there,

I'm new to the forums and I've come to ask for a bit of help. Please forgive me if this has already been solved elsewhere... i've searched extensively already. Also forgive my bad english :)

I've been asked by a friend to simunlock his HTC Desire HD. He got it from another friend and the device is already rooted and with a ROM which is not the original one. I assume it's not simunlocked because, when booted with a SIM card in it, it asks for a code to unlock the network.

I've read many methods for unlocking the phone, but all of them guide you through the whole process of rooting, flashing a rom, etc. And most of them are not compatible with all firmware, which scares me a bit because I do not know which was the original firmware of this particular phone. I've tried a couple of methods with ADB and Ultimate Multi Tool, to no avail.

This is the info in 'About phone':

--Model number--
HTC Desire HD

--Android version--
2.3.4

--Baseband version--
12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M

--Kernel version--
2.6.35.13-cyanogenmod-g87a2eba

--Build number--
MIUI. 1.7.15

So... what do you think should I do?

Thanks,

Andreu

In a lot of cases the network provider will unlock the phone for you. Maybe for a small fee. They just send the phone a code (or you type it in yourself - I forget) and it's unlocked. At least they can do so here in the UK. If you're not sure about the process to do it yourself this may be a hassle-free way for you to do it.
