network updates through metropcs easy wifi

so i used LG-LGNPST to go back to stock root and i keep getting updates through easy wifi when i pull down the notification bar in ongoing in easy wifi it says network update. Any one else notice this?

yeahh. Before i switched ROMs, it happened all the time. Never really noticed any difference though and never knew why it did that.

Ya I got a new phone because cm7 messed it up but I too get updates all the time and web browser force closes Im using opera now

I had that happen sometimes as well, before I flashed a different ROM. The only thing that I could think of what what happening, is that maybe it was updating the list of wifi hot spots. Other than that, I don't know what it could have been since we don't get OTA updates to the OS.

MetroPCS Easy WiFi constantly downloads updated locations of WiFi hotspots it can connect to. It has nothing to do with the actual "cell network". Problem is that catalog can grow as big as 25MB, a hefty chunk taken out of the user allocated space. It also constantly catalogs surrounding open WiFi networks, even with WiFi turned off causing a bit of the stock battery drain. Just disabling this app alone was worth rooting my phone.
