Network vision & LTE rollout

I'm very excited about this too! However, I think 16 days is extremely optimistic. Realistically I would imagine we (Phoenix residents) see 4G toward the end of the year. Either way.. its great news!

If Boston was any indication, you'll start getting 4G reception in select metro areas during the testing phase. And once the go-live is officially announced, there will still be lots of areas that don't get 4G coverage. Over time, hopefully, those pockets get addressed, and the coverage area gets expanded.

I think you're right. I would expect that with any new network launch.

The signal is poor, and I can usually only pick it up for a few seconds (took me quite a few tries to get the screen shot) but there is definitely 4g in Tallahassee! Next time I get it I will try to run a speed test to see what that looks like. Oh, and if anybody cares I was near 7th Ave and Monroe when I picked the signal up.

p.s. Yes I blurred out my I.p. address, so what, I'm overly cautious.

There are test sites up an running in

Tallahassee, Fort Walton beach, Panama City and Lakeland Florida. They may be more. those are areas I know of.. I have no idea on launch dates.

I sent Sprint an email for a billing issue and I asked them when 4G is expected in the area.

Here are parts of 2 emails to them.....

"The 4G coverage is available in almost all the areas. Unfortunately, we have not been to cover your area as yet. I apologize for the inconvenience. As a follow up on your mail, I have forwarded your case for an analysis to our technical team to ensure faster action.
As part of our extension plans, we are in the process of upgrading and
adding new areas under the 4G coverage & hope to finish it soon.

Further please provide us the area Zip code so that we can check the 4G
service at Detroit Metro area. As without Zip code we are unable to find
out the service status.
"

Why couldn't they get my Zip Code off my bill??

I then asked this question and following is there response....

"Is soon a few months or is it just to sound good? I have read it was
"supposed" to be out in Oct '10."

"Unfortunately the the 4G coverage is not available there but as
mentioned in my previous mail our technicians are working on it and the
4G service will be soon there."

I just hope they are not feeding me a line a BS, because I am out of contract and can leave at anytime and I told them that!!

Take it for what it is worth!

I was on Wayne State University's campus today and someone told me they had 4G. I didn't believe them until they showed me on their phone and it most certainly was. I flashed back to a Sense ROM so I could try it on my EVO and it was there. If you check the coverage map at clear.com pockets are there and it's sure to be expanding, so the rollout is definitely underway!

I live in Panama city and around the mall there is a little 4g it is weak just wondering are they getting ready to launch here, also when I do get it shows on speed 5 mb down and 1 up,does any one know about this area is it comming up soon?

I am about a mile north of the southern area of 4G and about 1 1/2 miles south of the northern area. WTF??

Detroit has some coverage up and running. If you zoom in on the Clear map you can see it.
According to the site, it says "Our network covers this area, but we aren't selling service here quite yet."

I don't really understand that. I have a 4G device so why wouldn't they offer the service if the area covers it?

That just means that they won't sell their Clear branded service. You still have access to it through your 4G Sprint device.

So I found out the 4G option wasn't even turned on. Weird. At any rate, when I activated it, it'll turn on for a second here and there, but then it'll drop off. Definitely not much of a 4G presence if any.

I found that if you shut off the 3g too it will connect better for me anyways.
