New Android Facebook App - Live now!

OK, I'm starting to see some large battery drainage, after installing and after 2 hrs of use, I went from a full battery to 68%... its their crappy app, very dissapointed.

At least pictures now open up within the app. Haven't played around it with much though. Still need notifications!

I saw the GPS icon on my Nexus One firing every couple of minutes right after I launched the new Facebook app, only stopping when I force-stopped it. Haven't tried it again to see if it comes back. That could be a real battery drainer if it happens every time the app is used.

I don't seem to be getting the photos at the bottom of the app anymore. I see them just fine in the timeline but not on the main screen.

Was the picture issue a wide-spread one before the update? I never had a problem loading them, or browsing albums...

I also thought notifications (if configured in the settings) used the default Android notifications, though they did my head in because the FB App redirected to the web, so I'll give them a whirl again now...

I was playing about with places last night, I previously used the "Places for Facebook" widget available in the Market...
When I was looking for places in the new FB app, there were very few listed, but when I looked via the Widget, it showed loads... Not sure why that was, but wasn't too impressed...

Definitely a step closer in the right direction but it still needs some work. The iphone facebook app still beats this one any day. More and more I get the feeling facebook is intentionally releasing these updates bit by bit just to **** with us.

Has anyone tried accepting a friend request from the new app? I've tried two of them, and despite very carefully pressing the "Accept" button it comes back and said "Ignored". I'm just hoping my Aunt doesn't get pissed at me ignoring her friend request.

[EDIT]Well, after logging onto the web, it DOES accept the request, but it most definitely says you ignored it when you click the accept button.

Great point! It might be using GPS now because of the inclusion of "places", constantly searching for your location so you can post where you are when your ready to.

Mine only seems to start up the GPS if I go into the places tab. If that's how it works for everyone, I can't imagine people having a problem with that.

Bloo still works if you have the apk... you just have to manually set permissions in facebook mobile for it. Go to the facebook mobile page and search for bloo for android and accept permissions and the app will let you generate a code. Im keeping it until the real facebook adds REAL notifications.
