New Android Market 3.4.4

Google has started pushing out a new Market update with version 3.4.4, which upon quick inspection operates faster than before and brings a setting for auto-adding of widgets to your home screen.

Note that I did say widgets, not app icons, though according to early tests, it's still icons that are being added and not widgets. This option appears in place of "auto-add shortcuts" that is present in the current Market and not in addition to it. Did Google rename it for some very confusing reason? Weird...
There could be other changes, which we'll post as soon as we find them.
Download the new Android Market 3.4.4 below:

Note: Root is not required.
Note: If the Market starts force closing, just open Settings > Applications > Manage > Market, and clear data.

By the way alot faster and a lot faster and seems as soon as you hit download and accept for an app it downloads instantly. No lag.
 
hi! totally noob question, but i downloaded the file (thanks!) now how do i install it - not-rooted, tho it says that isn't necessary & i have astro file manager. however, after unzipping the file & opening astro - i dont see any option to install??? how do i install??? im sure this is smth very simple, but it is driving me nuts - thanks for any help! & for releasing this!
 
well, chalk my idiotic post up to lack of sleep & my finger typing w/out thinking clearly. thanks for the link&help - worked like a charm! thanks a lot & great site btw!

well somehow yours came up as a zip file for me too shinyside. and your post wasnt idiotic. its a learning process for us all

thanks - i thought i was seeing things at first, as it was a zip file, so i used the other apk link & 1 quick tap & worked flawlessly! nice to have a forum where people help & dont berate, learning & making the mobile better is in all our interests - nice to know as im sure i'll have other questions, many more in the future - glad im on this site! cheers!:D
 
I'm having a small issue, sometimes i mean sometimes when my phone is in sleep mode & i go to on the market, it is showing the old mean old market, i closed it 2 or 3X's than it goes back to the current market. i grabed the 3.4.4 moved it to the Root Expl. & downloaded it. it shows the update but when i reboot or in sleep mode i see the old green & white market YUK!!!:D did i do something wrong?

That is odd. I wonder how that happens? When I installed the new market, I was prompted to replace the old so, I am hoping there's not even a reference of the old market... i wonder if the new market has some sort of "default" load in case the servers' busy or something?...:(
