that is the new version of market, a number of users have received it (myself included). I agree it does not look good, like an even more depressing version of windows phone 7. That said, I'm pretty sure it is faster than the previous version.

and it cant be uninstalled?

And it still hasn't worked right for me.....most of the time only shows 2 app in the "My Apps" section (Google Maps and YouTube). On rare occaisions it will show all the app I have....but not very often.

You can always install an older market if you don't like the new one. And vice versa...you can go back and forth all you want. You just need the .apk for each option:

Old Market:
Download: New Android Market Version 2.2.6 for All 2.2 Phones (Updated) - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

New Market:

Since the market update is being pushed from Google, wouldn't you just receive the new market OTA again after you installed the old market?

Might, could decline it though if you tried it and didn't like it. And it may not push again with the manual intervention. Pehaps if anyone tries it they could report back and let us know.

I still haven't received the update. I wonder if it is because I installed the APK when it first became available and then uninstalled it. Will it not push to me now?

I guess it's not thaaaaaat bad ,ill just have to get used to it. i didnt think i was getting any app update notifications but i am. although i had to try it like 3 times before my chomp sms finally started updating. id still prefer the old market version though. thanks for the help

It updated on mine without ever prompting me for anything. There was about a 10 min span between using the old market and checking my phone again to notice that the market icon changed as well as the market itself.

It keeps telling me I need to update 6 apps even though they've been updated and when you open them in the market individually, there is no option to update, only Open and Uninstall.

Overall I kind of like it. Downloaded a couple books, but I will probably just end up buying a paper copy since reading a 400pg book on a phone screen doesn't seem like the best option.

This is actually why I uninstalled the .apk after installing it. I thought the .apk was broken or something. I couldn't figure out how to update my apps. Apparently I read somewhere that you have to go into the market and find the app, and it will let you update it there. Let me know if that's the case. If so, I'll download the .apk again.

I also got the new market. I uninstalled updates, and it was back to the old version, but within five minutes it had redownloaded and reinstalled the new one without me doing anything. (sigh)

You might try manually installing an older version over the top.

I actually don't mind it. The only issue i have with it is that it shows downloaded apps by alphabetical order instead of last updated, like the old market did, with no option to change it.

Other than that, it's ok.

I opened the market today and thought i was downloading/installing it when the loading screen was taking a little longer than normal.

It couldn't connect because of no connection. I still don't have it.
