new android owner

i hope this forum is alot like the other forum im on.

ive had sprint for a couple years and havent been to pleased with their coverage but a tower is going up nearby soon, so i decided to upgrade my account and go the lg optimus S. neat little machine if i do say.

ill be lurking around reading up on this "rooting" and what it can do for me. im not too into phones but if i can use it like a regular computer that would be pretty cool.

looking forward to being apart of another community with, hopefully, some good and thorough information.

Rooting can be fun... I'd never done anything like that before (having only just got a smart phone myself in March) and, as long as you read, read and re-read everything, it's not that difficult to do. For me, it was essential, as I'm locked in to a 2 yr contract... it means that I can flash a new ROM on the phone every couple of months and not get bored of the phone (it's like having a new phone each time).
