Root New android user needing a lil help

Well i am not a new android user , i have used them before but didnt really like them , but since apple revoked my dev account i decide to leave iphones alone. So i pulled my captivate out of storage and started usg it , once i updated it to the latest software i realized android had came along qway since i last played with it , so i decide to se what custom i could do to it, so i found out about coustom roms , and installed phoniex on it which is great . Anyone know any other good custom roms ? Or if anyone know were i can find out info about making custom rooms and themes. Cause since apple revoked my dev acoount and i see droids can be just as good as a jailbroken iphone im here to stay with the droid community
 
Hey man. I suggest trying out Cyanogenmod 7. I use it on my nexus s and love it. It adds many new tweaks such a gestures on the lock screen, power controls in notification bar and built in theme chooser plus many more. I've also seen a lot of improvement in spped and battery life. :)
