New Android User - PLEASE HELP

I just bought my daughter a new T-Mobile G2 phone for Christmas, now I want to buy one for myself . I've been using a Blackberry that I sync with Outlook for years and I'm nervous about switching over.

I might be wrong but it seems like syncing with Outlook isn't very easy. What do Android users use on their PCs for Calendar, Contacts, Notes and Tasks?

Thank you!

Awesome, thank you!

By the way, I've never been a fan of Outlook, and only started using it because I bought a Blackberry way back when. If I do get the new Android phone, I would LOVE to switch to a new program for my Email, Calendar, Contacts, Notes and Tasks. Does everyone still use Outlook or is there something better now?

You're welcome. I just use the web gmail for contacts / email / calendar. I use colornote for tasks. I use Thunderbird from time to time but not much.

I use Google for all of that, calendar, email, notes, etc. I think Gmail is great! But that is of course, just my opinion.

Musky, I didn't realize Gmail had "notes"!?!?! I have my own domain and get my email through "Google Apps". I LOVE Google Apps but I've never seen a "notes" function in it. Where is that? I have a couple of thousand notes on my Blackberry and Outlook for everything I need to be reminded of every 10 years or so, and if Google Apps or even Gmail has a "note" function then I can sync everything that way. Cause if I can get rid of Outlook for ever I'd never look back.

I'm sorry, I misspoke, Gmail might have a notes function, but I use the draft folder as my notes. I just create a new email, and add a subject line and then type my note without addressing it to anybody, then I save it to the drafts folder and can call it up anytime from my phone or my computer. The calendar does work like Outlooks though.

You might also take a look at Gmail "Tasks":

Only ever used Outlook once, when previous employment required it. I use Google Calendar and Contacts on my Android phone and computers. My scheduled tasks and timetable is handled by Google Calendar, and for notes I just use a notebook and pen. :)

Your google account (gmail) will atuomatically back up/sync your calendar and contacts, so no worries there.

I use dropbox to sync my notes, pictures, music, any files actually from any computer (gotta dl the program onto it) and install the app on my phone. Pretty convenient :)

There's a thread that has people's referrals: http://androidforums.com/android-applications/68894-dropbox-referral-thread-only-post-them-here.html If you use one of the referrals there, you and the other member gets an additional 250mb.

For Notes, I use documents to go which is somewhat pricey but if you check regularly, they have promotions very often. I bought it when it was $5.95 :)

My phone came preinstall with quickoffice though the feature is pretty basic.

There are tones of notes/tasks apps on the market that you can use and will sync to something.
