New app data sync option?

[Deleted User]

I've noticed 2 new options under Settings > Accounts > Google > [google account]

"People details" and "App Data"

The options showed up on both my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 just today.

Not so interested in people details but very interested in this app data option.
I assumed it would sync app data (settings, game progress etc) across devices but doesn't seem to do anything at the moment.
Fired up a few games and apps on the N7 and changed settings and noted game progress then fired up the same on the N4 and nothing seems to have synced.
A work in progress or something else entirely?

Interesting I don't have either of those on my Motorola Razr M nor my Google Nexus 7

It is mentioned in this article: Google 'App Data' sync setting appearing on devices | Android Central

Doesn't really explain anything though. Just have to wait and see.

You will no doubt get the settings appearing eventually.
I normally get updates to the Play Store and OS updates on the Nexus 4 anything up to a couple of weeks before they appear on the N7.
