Root New Ascend User need advice please

Ok so i am new to the whole Android thing but loving it. Love my Ascend other than speed of it.
I already rooted using Tibu pro, Better keyboard 8, Go Launcher EX, Go SMS Pro, Android Assistant, Boot Animation, AndRootFile. So i have done a lot of customizing needless to say. Overall it has been a good experience.
I am really looking to flashing to CM6 this coming week. Just tired of waiting for Metro to update. I am a little nervous about it, but a friend of mine is a big tech type of person, so i am sure he can help me through it.

I live in Largo, FL. While service is not the best..2 bars at best, and No 3g...good old metro just went straight to 4g...lol. I still like the phone. All i am waiting for to do the CM6 is for internet to get installed at my home that way i can search the forums if i have any problems while flashing.

Any suggestions would of course help. I have already backed up as many apps as possible, and removed all of the Metro Bloatware.
I have a card reader and back up everything on my card to my PC constantly, and am using a 16gb card in my phone...Walmart has them for 32.96....gotta love walmart.

Thank You in advance for any advice or assistance. I am not worried about the camcorder bug, i don't use my phone in that way, as it has no flash so the camcorder sucks unless you have good lighting.

best advice to give you until you get internet install is, never use no app killer, it will mess you good and lag your phone even worse. Keep all cache clean on your phone to prevent lagging and low space, and when you get you internet up and running, we all can help you install cm6 for starters since everything works in it, but if you want to try cm7 that one rocks like cm6, only thing about cm7 is the camcorder doesnt work, but dont forget to bookmark us and visit us for info, and updates....

lol. sounds like someone found my apps section...

cm6 camcorder works for me btw. camera too.

technically you dont HAVE to have a pc to flash but i'm not about to post ADB push and flood my PM and email even more.
