Help New AT&T Update, Display is Different, Help

Hi,

First off, new here so hello everybody. :)

I have a Galaxy Note 2 and am a new Android user. I got an ATT update yesterday (is that an Android SW update?) and now my home screen looks different and the notifications on the home screen are weird (large and ugly).

My question: Can I change back to how it was before the update or change a setting back?

Any help would be appreciated. :)

Firstly, welcome to Android Forums Kenneth.:) Second, I moved this to the Note II forum where other device owners can help.
 
Looking around the Note II area here it seems a recent update for Kit Kat went out. That is a new version of Android. If you go into your phone settings, scroll all the way to the bottom and choose about phone, what does it say under "Android Version." It should be something like 4.4.2

Yes, just checked and it's 4.4.2
 
That was the Android Update from Jelly Bean to Kit Kat. Though most of what's under the hood is Android, manufacturers put skins on them (different UI and interface enhancements) that differentiate phones. For Samsung it is called Touch Wiz. I'm not too familiar with it (I know, I have an S3 and a Note II listed in my profile but they are my Wife's and Son's respectively:o). I have a Moto X which is pretty much AOSP.

If you could post a screenshot of what you are seeing with the notifications and icons then perhaps I can help figure it out. I think you press either Power and Vol Down simultaniously or Home and Volume Down simultaneously.

I think my skin has been overwritten with an AT&T skin and it was using the Touch Wiz skin before, which I liked.

How do I check what skin my phone is using?

After the surprise update to 4.4.2, my bluetooth headset crackles and pops. It seems like the it has very short range now. Anyone else dealing with this and what is the fix? Samsung and AT&T reps both say to do factory reset but Internet search shows it doesn't work. Thanks.

Hi fiddle,

Mine crackles too and has short range. They messed our phones up.

I don't know what to do. Any ideas??
 
Custom recovery
Flash cyogen mod
If memory serves they use their own bluetooth stack, not samsungs.

Should fix bluetooth issues.

As for the look of the os, use a launcher, easy fix.
 
Hi I'm on T-Mobile so thus far no KitKat update yet Idk why. Anyway as for the look as prepaidguy suggested adw is good . I myself though have nova launcher with gel icons . I don't want to confuse ,but just a matter of taste .
Just trying to help since I have a note 2 myself.

Are you rooted if not make a back up if your shore its a update for your device and start by clearing cache first . but make sure its a update available
