idk if anyone knows but I got the carbon fiber case from the samsung website that says galaxy s on the back on amazon for like $13 bucks and it came in 2 days
 
just search Samsung OEM Hard Shell Black Case for Samsung Galaxy S i897 Captivate in amazon that's what showed up on my order.
 
do not buy, a lot of people are complaining that it does not fit well on it and its really is just plastic (not carbon fiber) and prone to cracking. There was an XDA post regarding this case and a lot of people have returned it and bought the Body Glove instead
 
I have both and personally I like this one much better just the feel of it is better and you can't base your judgement on what others think have to try it your self. So I say do buy
 
no pics, poor / inaccurate thread title = fail.

Maybe you should change the thread title to "Just purchased / received a new case in the mail". Your current title might make people think that there is news regarding new cases that are being developed or have come out...... only to be disappointed by the content in the first post in this thread.

Sorry to sound like a prune, but I was very disappointed.
 
One and only review from Amazon regarding that case
The items is not actually made of carbon fiber, just a carbon fiber design. Its a plastic 2 piece item that snaps from front to back. It fits alright and looks nice. I dont see this item surviving a drop to a hard surface like concrete, the plastic edges that snap together could break off.

I have never had much luck with the rubber condom style cases, but this one is damn near perfect. Fits tightly, creates a confident grip, doesn't scuff the handset, and most importantly, doesn't obstruct the screen realestate.
 
The Samsung case sucks. I have had 2 of them and both of them (both from Samsung's website) didn't snap shut all the way. One drop and it would fall apart. I did have a screen protector on my phone but you would think they would fit with that on the phone. THe $7 one I got of of ebay fits much tighter and covers the phone better.
 
Body Glove is the best I have seen for this phone so far, its early still of course but for me personally I will stick with my BG case until the Otterbox case comes out. If it is not to bulky I plan to get that but the body glove is sleek, offers some protection and leaves my buttons uncovered. I dig it.
 
I tried that case but returned it due to poor fit. The bottom left corner didn't close shut all the way and would leave about 1mm gap. I think the bottom of Captivate is a bit thicker than the top due to the sliding mechanism for the battery cover.

Did you really honestly expect it to be carbon fiber at $13??? Please do not attempt to chop off pieces from the Golden Gate Bridge if you are ever in San Francisco, for two reasons:
1) Golden in the name does not mean the bridge is made out of gold
2) Golden Gate is not even about the bridge, it's in its name only because the bridge goes over the Golden Gate bay.

:) no offense, just injecting humor here people :)

If Jobs can call the iPhone 4 a phone, the OP can call the case carbon fiber.

no, people just expect a product coming from the original manufacturer to not be a piece of crap :rolleyes:
