New Cyanogen user, I have some questions

I've had my Hero for less than a month and I installed CyanogenMod 6.1 on it this past weekend. So far I love Cyanogen but I have a few questions:

1. When I install an app it gets installed to the SD card but the available internal memory goes down about the same size of the app. So if the app is 1 MB, the internal memory goes down about 1 MB even though it's saving it to the SD card. Why is that? Reserving room for cache?

2. I miss some of the old apps that came stock with the phone. More specifically Teeter, weather, calendar, bookmarks, and e-mail apps. I know there are replacement ones available on the market but I liked the ones that the phone had, anyway to get those back?

3. I still have problems with WiFi, it's the same problems I had since I bought the phone. I can connect to my router but the connection wont stay for more than 10 mins or so. I was hoping that Cyanogen 6.1 would fix this but it didn't. My laptop and Wii will connect to the router and keep the connection. Is it a problem with the phone or the router?

1. This is normal
2. The apps from your stock rom is HTC specific, so no HTC widgets, apps... will work with CM6
3. Probably the phone, I'm not sure why wifi will not work:confused:
 
I've been having wifi issues lately too. Whenever I try to connect it just says error. I did a nandroid back to stock and everything was fine. I think its a cm6 issue.
 
Pardon my ignorance. Is there a stable release of cyanogen that Hero owners who want Android 2.2 should be using?

I'm on Fresh 2.3.3 (Android 2.1), and figure it's time to get the performance bump of Froyo.

Yes - two Stable Froyo Roms
AOSP.9.9.2 and CM6.2
there is also a Sense Froyo - basically stable but no cameral

I have no problems connecting to my router with either stock or CM6, the problem is keeping the connection. It will lose it after about 10 min then I have to turn off WiFi and turn it back on.

Is there a camera app I can get to work with the Sense Froyo? Since I've rooted my Hero & got rid of the bloatware, I'm really happy with it. Would just like to be able to have apps2SD. But I don't think giving up the camera is a good trade for me!

No, until the camera is fixed , nothing you can do or download:( Same with the Gingerbread rom;)

Use a custom ROM then - Liquid Sense or NFinites - they are both 2.1
If you want FroYo - use AOSP or CM6 then you can customize it to look like Sense as descibed in this thread (camera works on both of those ROMS) :rolleyes:
