Help New Droid User Question: SMS Messaging

I'm new to Android having just come from Blackberry [loving the change, btw].

However the only thing I am missing... Is there any way within SMS Text Messages you can delete previous parts of the conversation? I see that it saves all my conversation with a person so I have todays conversation and yesterdays too. However, I want to delete all of yesterdays text messages but still keep the conversation thread I'm having currently.
Does this make sense? It was something I liked with my old phone- the "delete previous" option. Is there something like this on the HTC Incredible?

two ways...the best is to use handcent. using it you an set it to delete massages after a certain time frame. the other is to longpress a post and choose delete.
