Help New EVO owner - signal ?

I just got the EVO last week. So far I love the phone, however, I noticed that my Sprint signal seemed much weaker with my EVO than with my old BB, but I wasn't a 100% sure.

This weekend I took a ski trip to Utah and previously I got good service almost all over the mountain with my BB and with my EVO I had limited services and very few bars.

Is this a common issue that people have noticed when they switched to the EVO?

My wife has a Samsung Moment and she always has better signal when I put the phones side by side. My old Hero had the same issue as my EVO. Signal bars are always jumping from no bars to full bars, back to one bar then back up to full bars all while being stationary. It constanly has huge fluctuation in signal and it is constantly happening even while being stationary, yet my wife's phone is very stable. I think its an HTC thing,....maybe the antenna is weak.

I just had my phone replaced for that exact reason
