Help New firmware available - PDA:KE7 / PHONE:KE4 / CSC:KD1 (XEU)

Hi,
i cant do the update.
i tried several times, and i never could do the backup saving, it always stuck while backing up. so i tried update without the backup, did not work either, i reinstalled the kies, an switched the phone off an back on.
the update startet, the phone had a screen with the android on it, an text saying : downloading... do not turn off target
so i waited, an after a while the pc showed me a message saying it lost the connection to my phone. and the phone was stuck in this previously describe screen.

what do i have to do to get the upgrade done ?

Mine hangs in exactly the same way - little Android on the phone saying Upgrade but PC loses connection.

Have to remove battery to fix phone. Kias really is utter garbage.

Might sound stupid but you are using a usb cable aren't you? It cannot be done with a wifi connection.
Also make sure usb debugging is NOT checked.

Can anyone advise how i can check if im on KE2 or KE7? I did the update last night and Kies said it finished, but ive notived my Music Hub icon has not changed to the speaker image that someone mentioned above? Not that im bothered about the icon, it just makes me question if it actually updated... ive had a look in seetings, but cant seem to find where it says.

From settings go to the very bottom and you will see "about phone" and it will confirm your version in there.

hi can anyone help i have a galaxy s2 on vodafone and still on first version of firmware and kies is not showing any updates anyone have any ideas

i am also on vodafone with my galaxy s2 and kies doesnt show an update. i believe this is due to vodafone simply needing to release their version or at least the normal version after they have sniffed over it. i would guess this will be an eternity behind samsung themselves.

i dont want to follow the guide showing how to use the manual route as it scares me that i could cause some problems to my beautiful new toy and render it useless.

any ideas when vodafone will release the update themselves?

the main thing i would hope it will do is improve battery life but also the gps seems to take approx 6-7 minutes to find a signal and start directing me even if it was only used a few minutes before so should be much quicker than when staring cold.

cheers guys

I wouldn't worry much mate, I did the upgrade myself from a vodafone SGS2. got rid of the bloatware and my battery life is a lot better. did 15 hours yesterday of pretty heavy usage (angry birds, some youtube, quite a lot of browsing and some app downloading/sorting... )

it's really simple and there's nothing you can break if you follow the instructions. takes 5 minutes...

Hi can you post the link to the website to do the manual update and will i have to update manually there after or will i be able to back to vodafone i love the phone better than my iphone 4 but the screen jumping about with its brightness is getting me fed up
