New firmware

I have a Wildfire on 3, and when I go to check for the update, it says my phone is up to date, no update available, current software version is 1.16.771.3

Any ideas why it won't update?

Thanks.
I am in the same position, but i did ask in the 3 store this morning and to be honest got three different replies from all the staff that were in the shop.

All they are interested in is selling the phones, support is terrible.

Ummmm.... Sorry guys but.. i bought the wildfire in the first week of september 10 and the current software no. is 1.25.720.1 which doesnt match with the ones provided... But when will i be able to receive the froyo update?? :(

The 1.25 is the significant bit... the last couplet (in your case 720.1) defines the market and/or carrier...

Edit: if the phone is unbranded by a network, Froyo is expected in Q4. If it's network-branded whenever they release it (if ever)

Dear Pranay,

Software Number
1.25.720.1
Browser version

-----------------------

Can you post your stock full detailed version? I want to check if rooting the device changes these values...

was informed by telstra (australia)high level tech support today froyo 2.2 not expected from htc until feb/march 2011 and there is a possibility they may skip froyo update and go straight to gingerbread 2.3

Will the DNS issue discovered in the link shown in post #26 above be dealt with quickly as a fix. Although I have an IT backgroung, not everyone can confidently add fixed DNS entries to internet connections.
Tethering is a really useful service and I want it back please!
Chris.

I am also unable to use USB Tethering. It used to be fine, but now on every system, no internet connection can be established anymore. The PC gets the usual IP of 192.168.100.100 on the HTC NDIS adapter and 192.168.100.254 as gateway.

I don't think it's just a DNS issue, since I am unable to ping either the phone itself on .254 nor any other IP in the WAN (which would circumvent the need for a DNS).

I don't know since when this is the case, but it could be since that one update.
