Go into the setting on the app you do not wish to use for your email and under settings disable notifications.

I think a better question would be why are you using both the stock email and gmail for the same account?

Warwick69, do you have a Note 3 or a Note 8? Your post indicates both and we'd like to make sure you're in the right area for your device.

Sorry guys - it's a note 8! And thanks for the response so far.
I'm new to the Android world , having had a iPhone for years. Thought I'd try the Samsung tablet and see how it went - maybe upgrade my phone to the Samsung instead of the new iPhone ?..
Anyway re the email - I only use Gmail but must have set up 2 accounts by mistake now I'm getting double of everything - incoming mail notification etc.
Still not sure how to correct it.

We do have a specific forum for the Galaxy Note 8, where other users can help you master your device. Get comfortable here: learn things, help others, make friends and have fun! Always feel free to ask any questions you may have.

EDIT: Anyway, go to Settings --> Accounts and make sure you have only ONE gmail account set up for each address. If you have two, delete the last one. That SHOULD fix it: unless you have an app or widget that is also checking your mail.
