New GN2 comments and questions

Just like many of you, I said goodbye to my ancient DX and switched to GN2. Received it last night in the mail. With an exception of them sending me SIM card programmed for my wife

I already mentioned in another thread to better use generic Email account for Gmail/Yahoo since apps are crippled, although I was hoping it would be improved on this phone (still a common app). Also, had my work

It does have a widget that I have set to agenda. When you choose it you can resize it. I like having my week's agenda on the screen and then if I need to see the entire month or calendar then I just tap the header of the widget.

Are you talking about Calendar widget? Its the only one I have and it displays current day agenda only. When you tap a header, it goes to a full calendar where you can select Task/List/Day/Week/Month/Year view. Can you please let me know the name of the widget you are talking about and if you are on Verizon? Seems that different providers have different list of widgets :(

If you don't like swyping you should look at A.I. Type keyboard. It's very customizable.

Pull down your notification bar and scroll to the right. You can turn off data there.

I miss the sPlanner full screen calendar. There are alternatives in the market. I don't know one off hand though.

That AI keyboard looks good! Thanks for the tip!

I know you can turn of things manually, I was just hoping it could be done automatic at specific time, like we had it in DX.

With calendars, seems that a lot of people prefer Jorte, but I found it to be too busy. I really like GN2 stock calendar, just wish it would be a widget. If you have some suggestions, please let me know!

Oh, and one more thing, perhaps you or someone else can help me with. I took 16GB microSD card from my DX and put it in GN2. Card is mounted and I can easily browse all the files on it (using ASTRO file browser). I have a lot of pictures from my DX on it, and can view them all with ASTRO browser. But when I open Gallery - those pictures are not displayed. Do you think I need to copy them to a picture directory of internal GN2 memory, or maybe there is some kind of a database file that needs to be deleted in order for gallery to rescan and view these pictures?

The missing widget I'm referring to is called. S planner. It was on my S3 but not on my N2.

Take a look at Pure Calendar. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.koxx.pure_grid_calendar

I don't know why your pics aren't showing up. I took my SD card from my Rezound and the pics showed up.

Yes.
Under widgets it's titled Calendar 2x3 and came stock on my Verizon GN2.
When I install it on a blank page it gives me the option to resize.
It shows my week's agenda with all of my appointments in a scrollable format. When I want to see the full calendar I just tap on the top bar of the widget and it takes me to a full screen calendar.

I don't know why your pics aren't showing up. I took my SD card from my Rezound and the pics showed up.

Btw, I was able to finally figure out how to get it to work. I copied all SD card files to my laptop, reformatted SD card inside of the phone, than in windows explorer selected all the pictures and right-click "send to device". So it wasn't just a plain copy, and it also came up with a message about auto-converting some of the files.

I had a DX. All of the pictures on my SD card worked fine when I plugged in the SC card from my DX. I didn't have to do anything.

Uh, forgot to mention. Since I have corporate exchange account, everything got encrypted on the phone (and also PITA to constantly enter password whenever I turn display on). Probably, once I was sending it to the device, it got re-encrypted again.

... edit: actually, all my pictures from 2010 up to Dec 31st, 2011 are OK, but after Jan 1, 2012 got corrupted. damn :( Better get a new sd card!

As long as you have "Split View mode" selected in General Email setting - it will have preview in landscape!
Still not working on my AT&T Note2 - Ive tried everything - but still no landscape mode on the stock email app on my AT& Note 2 phone

EDIT -

I just found the solution:

Settings

Display

AutoRotate screen (enabled)

Back
Top Bottom
