New Google Android Market update

I get a "problem parsing the package" error.

I navigate to my download folder where the apk is using RootExplorer, hit install and get the error.

Am I doing something wrong? Xperia X10, 2.1-update1.

Shouldn't the market be able to update itself. If I install this apk will it screw up my phone?
If it was released officially you would be able to update it via the Market.

However, as per my original post, this is the pre release .apk.

No, it doesn't screw up your phone.... or, at least it hasn't done so on mine. :D

Seems to be working fine on 2.2, 2.3 and 2.3.4. Not sure about 2.1 I'm afraid... unless anyone knows different!

The new Market is running really smoothly on my Nexus S, overall i love it. The design looks great, although i do see the similar resemblance to WP7.

I installed it on my Galaxy Tab just to see how it would look on a tablet. My initial response to the whole thing is Meh. I can't say that I'm blown away impressed, but I can't say that I hate the thing with a passion either.

Looks junky to me. I'll keep it for a while to see if I can get used to it, if not I'll go back to the old version.

installed on rooted phone using oxygen 2.1.6 and ran sweet as a nut 1st time.

looks good, prob take a bit to get used to, but I like it

Must say I am liking the new market. I know they took a little windows and IOS but I like how more information is provided on the screen.

Yes I am having this problem as well. Bummer. Gonna restore a backup.

I just downloaded it and installed it on my Tab. It griped at me that it was a 3rd party app and I had to go enable 3rd party app installations (which I would've sworn I had done already). Then it installed with no issues. I can't say that I'm overly impressed with it, but I can't say that I loathe it either.

I really like the new market. I noticed a few design things that I haven't seen mentioned.

What's new is right at the top now. It took a bit of work to get to it in the old market. I always liked to review that when updating. Much easier now.

Total number of downloads is now accurate and matches the web market. No more topping out at 250,000+ downloads like the old market.

It works on HTC Wildfire S, too ! <It's 2.3.3>. But it's kinda laggy after 2-3 minuntes of use so i uninstalled it.

Phandroid and Android Police are posting links to it. I followed the link on Phandroid and installed the new Market this morning. Went well, nice changes

Video for you that want to see it before installing and if you do instal and do not want it anymore Chris Chavez posted how to get back to your old market.

 • Go into your phone’s Settings
 • Select "Manage Applications"
 • Select the "All" tab at the top
 • Scroll down to Market app and select it
 • Select "Uninstall Updates"
 • Now have your old Market back!

The new market reminds me of Win Mo7 or Zune. I wonder if yet another Microsoft infringement suit is in the works.

But I'm loving the new multiple account feature.

Oh ok, my bad!!! Just figured it would be a lot easier to just attach it so whoever else needed it wouldn't need to take as many steps to get it.

No worries, I understand.

In an crunch situation (user in trouble, that sort of thing), so long as the apk is open source (like Google) and righteous, we're more lax, but for early adopters we prefer the link back to source. You never know when a dev wants to update or fix something (or maybe has a tip jar for his trouble or hosting costs), so that's my general rule of thumb.

It drives some traffic away from our site, but in the end, it just seems more righteous and cool. ;)
