Hi, I'm an ex-IBM mainframe systems engineer who is familiar with Assembler and binary. I'm the proud owner of an HTS Desire HD but know nothing about it.

I'm pretty sure that I've backed a winner with the Android OS.

Thank you for welcome. I found this place when I was investigating battery usage. Turning the display down to low luninesence and having a task killer seems to be helping but it's still early days.

Welcome to the Android Forums!

Running a task killer isn't always the best thing to do, especially on a newer Android phone. The newer versions of Android are much smarter when it comes to managing processes. Nowadays Android is able to suspend unused apps and reclaim their memory for use with other apps. When a task killer exits a process that Android thinks should still be there, Android will immediately re-create the process and starts a cycle of terminating and re-creating processes. Needless to say this can be somewhat resource intensive...
