New Hero this summer?

What I find interesting is this quote from the website mbell75 posted: "HTC is reportedly to begin shipping another WiMAX-enabled smartphone to US-based Sprint Nextel in the first half of 2010, according to industry sources." If it does roll out the 1H2010, will we get our updates to 2.1 first? I know it's all rumor now, but it's still interesting.

why update the hero with the hero 2 coming out?

Its not really the Hero 2, but the Hero was already sold a ton for Sprint in only 3 months. Those people are not eligible for an upgrade until late this year. Sprint isnt dumb enough to piss off all those people and leave them on 1.5 while everyone else gets 2.1 on a new phone or on existing phones on other carriers. Despite its processor being over a year old, the Hero for Sprint is only 3 months old.

It isn't Sprints fault, its Google Fault. There is an entire 2+ page thread about whos fault it is that we don't have 2.1 right now.

That thread also implicates the french somehow.

of course, I would imagine the majority of people using the Hero now get an upgrade every year (premium customer or whatever), so chances are something better than the supersonic would be out by the time everyone gets an upgrade. I'll certainly wait until my upgrade is available, and probably even longer depending on what's out at the time
