Its now on 2.1.0.11095_121_6 (Nov 9th)
Previous version I had was 2.0.3.11082_152_4

Not that I use it, but I will be downloading it in case there are any driver updates.

UPDATE:
now on Kies_2.1.0.11112_41_7, Dec 2nd

Made me excited, but it didn't help. A lot of us are having the same problem. Here's what I've done to date and what results I get:

  • Downloaded newest version of Kies today, 2.1.0.11095_121
  • Have a new Samsung galaxy S2 LTE
  • Want to sync with outlook contacts, dates, tasks and notes which Kies is able to do
  • Attaching through a USB cable, have tried different ports and cables
  • Have USB debugging turned off in settings, which means the check-box is ON
  • I have all unnecessary tasks off
  • I have the box checked in the Kies program on PC to start when phone is plugged in, but that doesn't work
  • My phone is able to connect over the cable as I can go into the phone settings and connect turn on USB storage and I can see the phone in Windows Explorer
  • When I plug in the phone and start Kies, or start Kies and plug in the phone, it just tries to connect but with no luck
  • I am usually able to connect after re-booting the phone, or rebooting the Windows 7 x64 machine
  • When I finally get into Kies, the settings for Sync have are usually all gone from last time and have to be re-checked. But it does work. Sometimes when I get back in the settings are there, but for the contacts folder, it has some Chinese letters followed by the words: (10) test>testdd>test

This is nuts. Samsung is selling a whack of these phones, and needs to provide a reliable way to sync with Outlook. I come from the Blackberry world until last week, and Blackberry Desktop Manager worked first time, every time. I trusted it to do my backups which are at the heart of my business. I don't trust Kies at all.

Does anyone from Samsung monitor this forum? Are you doing anything about this? Is there a community forum that they monitor?

Try deleting Kies in the StartUp folder and let you PC boot up and THEN start Kies when you need it. Like to keep as little running in the background as possible. Kies has been good for me.:)

Samsung have updated Kies again

Latest version is Kies_2.1.0.11112_41_7, Dec 2nd

I dont use Kies at all, and I only update due to the USB drivers.
I have to admit, I've not been getting any USB connection dropouts for this version, and the 2 prior to this. Previously, the device would be lost after a few minutes connected, but this seems to have improved (at least for me)

I always uninstall and reinstall Kies (never just update it) in the following way:
1. Uninstall Kies
2. Run program files\samsung\usb drivers\uninstall.exe (This is important! This does not get done on a Kies uninstall)
3. Reboot
4. Delete the Samsung folder from Program Files.
5. If you want to be even more thorough, run a free utility called CCleaner on the files and registry, and if your confident, remove anything that references program files\samsung in the registry using regedit. (You have to know what your doing with regedit, as it is possible to "break" your PC if you do something wrong).
6. Reboot then reinstall Kies.
7. Plug in your GS2.

Kies problems tips

I never get problems with Kies to be honest. Every version I install I update existing, all fine on windows 7 64 on my laptop and gaming rig.

So YOU'RE the one!!!! :D

I have to say, its improved of late.
Also, I think it works significantly better on newer hardware.
It tends to really struggle to work on older PCs

It is not like Samsung is hurting for sales and can not afford to pay to have Kies overhauled. It HAS improved but there is so much more that can be done. I guess I am happy as I have had no problems and has doen what I needed it to do.

installed new Kies software to sync my Outlook contacts, all seems to be ok but in the synch menu drop down it only lists yahoo, google and windows address book as options to synch with i.e. it doesn't see Outlook??

Anyone else have this issue and if so how did they get around it??

p.s. oh for Nokia full synch, easy, bug free and worked!!
