Help New lcd screen not working. Need help. One question.

I went ahead and ordered a new lcd screen because i figured the phone was completely working except the screen. Had a little water damage. Cleaned phone real well the suggested way. Just got new screen in and connected it and turned phone on and nothing. Phone still starts up and vibrates and rings and all. My question is does anyone know if the screen has to be placed in the original spot flush for it to work for some reason or another? I have cable connected but didnt want to lay screen in because of 3m tape. Didnt want to risk ruining screen if i have to try and re-sale it? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I called and went on live chat with samsung and they wont answer anything. Thank you very much
