Root New Market 3.3.11

I really really really like the new market! I think it finally fixed that bug where sometimes your apps disappear from the my apps list. Some of my apps that were gone reappeared now, and I am defiantly appreciating the new settings.

I tried to install after a fresh wipe and flash, it wouldn't work. sucks

Here's what Jerry said to do.

I had trouble installing the new market apk, it just would fail saying not installed. Here's how I got it working, in case others have trouble too.

1- Download the Market.3.3.11.apk to your sdcard
2- Attempt to install by clicking on it in your file manager, if it doesn't install, continue
3- Under settings>>applications>>manage select the all tab, then scroll down to the Market
4- Click on the market, and then clear cache, then clear data
5- Using a root file explorer setting files to r/w, rename /system/app/Vending.apk to Vending.apk.bak
6- Rename the Market.3.3.11.apk you downloaded to your sdcard to Vending.apk
7- Copy this new renamed Vending.apk to /system/app/Vending.apk
8- Long press on the copied file and select permissions, check all nine boxes
9- Reboot, then once the phone is loaded up, open the Market and accept the terms.

I like the Auto-add shortcuts option in the settings menu, I always hated searching the app drawer for apps I just downloaded. ;)

Sorry if my posts "gripe" too much, but I was going to post about this, and upon seeing this thread, figured this was the place to do.

Is it me, or is the "new" market (the one we've had the past 6 weeks or so) a WHOLE LOT more buggy than the old one from 2.2 stock? I've been doing a lot of factory resetting my LG Optimus V phone (mainly because I can't get auto-rotate to work & I'm trying to diagnose if a fix is possible), and I already have a list set aside of what apps to install. I've found that if I quickly search for & install them while the "old" market is still on there, it goes very quickly & very smoothly, no problems at all.

The new market, on the other hand, loves to "hourglass," to the point I end up having to shut the phone all the way off & turn it back on and try again. I get these sort of hang-ups on the "new" market ALL the time, whereas I NEVER did on the old one--before, or now (when I've factory reset & the old one hasn't updated yet). I've had 2 different Optimus V phones & BOTH of them exhibited this behavior.

The new one may LOOK better, but I find the old one just WORKS better, at least in my experience.

Yes, the new market was very buggy. Hopefully this update address this. If not I will do like I normally do and uninstall updates and freeze the market updater app.

hrmmm.. Will this ever be pushed to the device? i have never had a single problem with the market and I would rather not go thru the trouble of installing it.

The new market installed fine for me without any hiccups running Backside. It seems a little faster, and the UI looks more streamlined. I dig it.

Don't like the new market. Having a lot of connection time outs while searching, viewing and trying to download apps. Clearing cache and rebooting seems to have little effect on correcting the problem.

I honestly didn't notice any change in the market app after installing this one, looks the same and feels the same as the one that i installed over(not sure what version it was, but I flash August's gapps) but if it is different in any other way, then I didn't notice it lol

Default settings, font and rating system are all new. Look under menu then settings.

Just curious...how do you download an app to the sd card?

I've found the easiest way is to use the Dropbox app from the market on your phone and the desktop app on your computer (go to dropbox.com to download). That way you can download through your PC browser, transfer the file to the dropbox folder and it's instantly accessible on your phone without having to attach it each time with a USB cable. I've done that a bunch of times with music files, pictures, etc. It makes it super easy to backup your phone pictures so you can delete them off the phone after transferring, freeing up memory.

After the initial setup it makes everything a lot simpler.

I never thought of that before. I don't use DropBox anymore and switched to Ubuntu One as I have an Ubuntu computer. I think I will be doing this for now on in the future!

I have 2 problems with downloading this.

First off ever since I downloaded the newest CyanogenMod when i try to open market i get this message,

"You must add an account to the device to continue. Do you want to ad one now?"

There are two options. Whenever i click on either everything just closes what is wrong.

Second when i follow the steps to download the new market. in the system/apps/ there is no vending.apk and when i try and copy and paste it says this file is read only.

HELP!!!!
